First of all, I really liked the HM movie. Also, I heard for sometime that they were going to put Jennifer Tilly in the ride as Madame Leota, but many fans disapproved. If they build a gift shop, does this mean they will get rid of the Madame Leota Cart by the Liberty Belle enterance?

Who knows what will happen to the ride, but if they did redo the ride...Jennifer Tilly? What a horrible rumor...she is the most annoying woman ever. Well, not quite as annoying as Rosie Perez but close.

Surprisingly I would look forward to TWDC adding a Haunted Mansion giftshop.:hammer:

So would I! Of all the rides that could have a kick-butt shop at the end, it's the HM.

if, and only if, you are not REQUIRED to walk through it at the end, AND it only stocks HM or thematically correct items. I don't want to see Stitch sweatshirts. the crypt scene is PERFECT as it is, next time, before rushing out, hang around and listen carefully to the music there; different creepy lyrics and style, a very macabre ending to the attraction... good stuff

for more on why attractions shouldn't have mandatory exits, check this out, the re-imagineering guys were just discussing this recently:

they make a very compelling argument!

The movies have absolutely nothing to do with the attractions. They were just inspired from the attraction. Before 2003, there was no such people as Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbosa Elizabeth Swan or Will Turner. The entire story of the Black Pearl was made up & had nothing to do with the attraction. As for HM movie, it was a bit closer to the attraction but still had nothing to do with it. I'd say over half the movie had nothing to do at all with the attraction.

Which means that they (the attractions) had a good story line to begin with and which the movies relied heavily upon their story.

That isn't "story", that is "concept".

The plotlines of both films have absolutely nothing really to do with the rides, as both rides do not have a traditional storyline to begin with. They rely on the epic nature of the experience, and present a series of relatively un-related scenes in order to produce a certain progression, but there is no "story" there. In essence, they are the epitome of Brecht's theories on epic drama.

A visual reference like the dog in the jailhouse with the keys in Pirates was more of an homage than anything else (it wasn't a "plot point"), and something like Mme. Leota in the HM film was based on the CONCEPT of a head inside a crystal ball and the writers concoted everything else. These elements are worked into the stories and the plotlines of the films to create the connection for the branding, but with no signifigant exceptions both PotC and HM the films could have stood on their own without any such connection.

PotC is a film about a rag-tag group of Pirates and Jack Sparrow, and without a few visual homages to the attraction and a couple of scenes loosely inspired by (i.e. Jack in jail in the first film), it could have easily stood on it's own; "HM" is a Haunted House story, and with the exception of a few names and the character of Mme. Leota (who bears little resemblance to her attraction counterpart) it too could easily have stood on it's own (quality of the picture itself non-withstanding).

Very well said! I always thought that Pirates captured the true spirit of the ride. The whole idea of taking villainous scoundrels and turning them into fun loving pirates really transfer well in both the ride and film

Billy what did you with all of our money...Imm going to make to Jepordy.

Eddie Murphy cant go into the Haunted Mansion, then all the rides would start to be based on movies. But it would be a reason to bring guests so the guests can "be in the movies". So I can see why they would put the movie characters in but in my mind its a bad movve.

If they make a Jungle Cruise movie than its going to get movie AAs too.

Now THAT has potential! I'm thinking Bill Murray or Adam Sandler as the ringleader. Of course, you have to include the token hot chick all the guys drool over. Throw in a nerd and a fat guy (no offense). Maybe a stuffy bossman. You could almost write a script based on the comedy in the queue areas. The group gives jungle river tours to rich city folks and tree-hugging goofballs and messes with them, big time. Steal some stuff from M*A*S*H & Caddyshack. :D

it would be horrendous if they add something from the movie to the ride. and i believe there are more than enough fans of the ride to complain (ie: Journey into imagination) if need be.

this would be a sad day for disney to add something that is way less popular and down right atrocious to a ride that is beloved.

Yes
Adding Eddie will never happen - Talk about complaints at City Hall! :brick:

Plus...Eddie doesn't fit into the story as the HM goes. It was a stretch to do it in the movie anyway.

If they haven't done that by now...they ain't gunna.
(Thank the blue sky above!:sohappy: )
