Has Anyone Tried to Listen to David Lee Roth?

Have you ever seen him on the "I Love The..." series on VH1? He wasn't on it a ton, but the segments he was on were funny in an almost sad way. Everything he said was hillarious to him and he would literally laugh 30 seconds after everything he said. He's certainly a character.

He would laugh at himself constantly, and it was a demonic laugh. I kept thinking, "what's so funny?" I'd like to see Adam Corrola take over, but probably not going to happen.

Diamond Dave was at his best during his Van Halen days. He really hasn't done anything of note since. My favorite bit of his was the spoken lines he'd throw into songs:

"Reach down ... ease the seat back"

"One break coming up"

"Have you seen Junior's grades?"

Sadly, Dude is whacked.

But, no, I haven't heard him in his current gig. Reading and seeing what his public course has been the last several years, I'd be surprised if he makes it very long in radio.

"He's no Ted Nugent."

I attempted to listen to him...what I don't understand is how a syndicated radio show can be so "unorganized."

8 out of 10 of his callers either hang up or you can't hear them...and the two that do get through, can't hear Dave.

Then, I love this...when he just puts on some obscure track of weird 70's funk music...and it goes nowhere...there is no purpose for it...I could understand if he used it as an exit from the show to go to commercials or to come back from commercials...but half the time he stops the conversation in the middle to play it...then he "plays" the guitar with his mouth...and then stops and attempts to pick the conversation back up.

It's such a bad show...I listened two mornings...the first day he was on...and then 2 weeks later (figuring the first show was just a learning experience). I'll never tune in again.

DLR is jsut awful. The show is unprganized, unprofessional and boring.

The best line I've heard describing it as, "Skin-crawlingly bad".

I use 2 words....train wreck.

I have Sirius in the car, and Howard has been awesome. I like the replay that starts at 9pm.

I have never liked DLR. No need to. He likes himself enough for the two of us (and everyone else in the world).
I may be the only one, but I liked VH much better with Sammy.

As for the Van Halen thing, I liked DLR Van Halen better. The songs were more kick-a$$ and the lyrics were fun rock and roll "I got a drink in my hand, got my toes in the sand, all i need . . . is a beautiful girl!"

Sammy came in at a time when the band shifted more into the power ballads, and while they were quite good . . . today I'd rather listen to the first three albums than any of the rest.

Still, at the point when Sammy came in, continuing on with DLR was no longer an option, from what I recall reading at the time. DLR was well on his way down the road that led him to where he is today.

Sammy Hagar's agreement to join the band made both Eddie Van Halen and Sammy Hagar large sums of money that separately neither would have made in the same amounts. It was a good thing while it lasted.

You work for XM, right? Big Ron and Fez fan (wish they were on Sirius)

I don't know what the guy from Rolling Stone has been listening to, but the Henry Hill interviews have been insane

I must admit... I loved listening to Howard, 10-12 years ago. I bought both his books... and he was funny and very edgy [back then].

He was great... but, JMO, I think he has been slowly going down hill since then.

Ron and Fezzy are good... I was like "eh" the first few months... but now I am catching on to their style of show, and humor... so now I am hooked on R&F to.

Ron and Fez is an acquired taste, it's true. The show never caught on in NY, but I loved it. It's a smart, funny show.

I tried to listen to him one morning, but then my ears started to bleed my entire way to work and I had to turn the radio off. I highly doubt I'm missing much by not listening to him now

Lemme tell you, Christmas comes and I get satellite, given the choice of Sirius or XM, or Howard VS. Ron and Fez. I never really missed Opie and Anthony, but R&F, wow. I ended up with Sirius since I'm just not able to listen when R&F are on. Boy, it still was a tough choice.
