I actually agree with @Todd L that we do represent our countries and we should take that into consideration when we travel to other places. Then again I also believe that courtesy and good manners are something that should be ingrained in how we behave anywhere, be at home, at a party or while in vacations.

I guess I'm just not sure how anyone would know which country you represent. If you are abroad in an official capacity, for instance in the military, then yes you are absolutely representing your country. If you are studying abroad at a University and people there know you as "the American student" then the same would apply too. On vacation at WDW it would be hard to tell. American citizens come from all different nationalities and speak all different languages. I guess if you are part of a tour group carrying a flag then maybe.

I've seen some reports of people using the water fountains as personal baby bidets but those report never mentioned if the perpetrators were foreigners or Americans.

Well, it was America that introduced the "flush-toilet" to Europe during WWII but I guess it was the Europeans who introduced to us the "bidet". Perhaps this was their inspiration? Bottled water from now on.

The flush toilet was around a bit before WWII, but marvelous attempt at a useless segue....

I guess that the way I look at it is that the more we allow this type of behavior to persist in society the more that it gets out of hand. I see this every day more and more at work. I stop someone for a standard violation and I inevitably get a "Why are you stopping me?!?" or "Aren't there bigger criminals out there?" at least once every couple of days. Of course I have to keep it professional in those situations, but we need to take a stand against this type of behavior in our everyday lives. It started in the 80's and has gotten worse and worse over time. I will always say something to someone who does something like cutting line, or decides to hold everyone up so they can do as they please in a line.

Back when I was in Patrol or Motors my standard response to that was, "Well I was on the way to a (insert robbery, DV, or some other serious call) in progress till I observed you breaking the law and had to address your criminal behavior." This normally shut them up.

Just curious...

Would you really pull over someone going 3 miles an hour over the limit and consider them a "criminal" rather than going to the robbery in progress?

Actually what constitutes someone being a "criminal". If I have run a stop sign sometime in the past am I forever considered a criminal? Can my past transgressions be erased by contributing to the local FOP?

Those are moving violations. A search of your vehicle would be unwarranted.

People on vacation at WDW are hardly on a diplomatic mission...they are on vacation. Nobody has the right to be pushy or rude at home or abroad, but I don't think there is a higher responsibility to behave well abroad.

I Am really amazed at how people act Regardless of where they are and I Think that a segment of our society could use a Little class In manners . Nobody has to be on a Diplomatic Mission to behave like they have an ounce of Dignity or Class ...Home Or Abroad

No, first and foremost never pulled anyone over for doing less than 13. 5 for me 5 for you and 3 for the radar gun. Second, no I never pulled anyone over on the way to a call. Third, it was a point to answer a facetious comment. Actually, in my state your driving record gets cleared after three years, so your transgressions will go away with time.

As a side note, I did have another response which was, No we strictly enforce traffic laws this reducing crime because criminals are scared they will be pulled over. (There is actually truth to this statement according to stats.)

Where did a search come up anywhere in anyone's post?

The OP implied that running a stop sign would mark him as a criminal for life, so I just assumed he expects to be treated as one for that infraction.

The 13 is interesting....is this standard of something that you came up with?

Well the plus or minus on the radar gun is 3. The 5 for me and 5 for you is something that a training officer told me years ago. So I took the error of the radar gun and added it to the 5 for me 5 for you, just to be fair. My whole theory with speeding is, that if you are doing 13 or more over, you know you are speeding. Anyone can let a car get 5-8 miles out of wack on them just looking down the road. I didn't write many ticket for speeding anyway, I cut far more breaks than I issued tickets. I was big on red lights, cutting people off, child restraints and tag violations. Now that I have spent the past 5 years working Cybercrimes, I am not sure if I could even work these new radar guns they have now.

Classic. I'm writing that one down. Keep it to no more than 12 MPH above speed limit in Alabama;). I'm assuming its Alabama based on your picture.

I wouldn't advise speeding at all...especially in some of the smaller communities. Some towns whole economic well-being is centered upon speeding tickets.

I will agree with unkdug, but the most of the men/women I know let their leeway vary somewhere between 10-15 mph. I have seen that dip as low as 8 for some officers in a residential area.

Oh and back on topic, The only problem I have ever had in the parks is a woman letting her two little girls push in front of my then 3 year old to watch wishes. I let the girls stand in front of me because they were 5 or 6 and didn't mind them being there, but they weren't knocking the little man out of the way. However all it took was a "please" tell your little girls to let the little man in front since I was kind enough to let them up there. Worked like a charm, even though some other guest watching gave her some nasty comments prior to me saying anything. The other guest jumped her and the kids before the show started. I didn't mind whatever till the show started then I piped up. Most of the time I have noticed that a "Hey sorry about that" or a "please" will accomplish whatever you need. No need to be a "donkey" till you have to be.

Its funny you should mention that. I was looking down main street waiting for MSEP to start. i was sitting so people behind me could see, and other people where doing the same. Along came these people and stood right in front of me and my family. I asked them nicely if the could move so we can see they just turned and proceeded behind me. Next thing i knew i was getting kicked in the back by their son and asked if them if he could stop. he continued so i simple stood up. Most of the people around were standing by that time. Being 6'5 i blocked their views of the parade, next thing i know their son was trying to get past. I let him past so he can tell them what they missed.

This thread has been derailed. Can we please get back to discussing the fact that WDW guests not visiting from the United States of America are horrible, disgusting, rude people?

They probably consume large quantities of turkey legs too.
