Has an Adventureland height balloon test happened?

POTC is one of those rides that's hard to predict in my experience. Rides with immersive queues always seem shorter than they are, which is I suppose the point of them. Whereas a 60 minute wait for Peter Pan's Flight feels like 3 hours.

We've ridden POTC in the middle of the day, with a posted 30 minute wait. 8 minutes and we were on a boat.
Same here, but you know, we can't bring reality into the picture. Doesn't fit with the agenda.

There's an agenda for saying that Pirates is a popular ride and generally has solid wait times? And that sometimes the wait it shorter than posted? Huh? Trying to figure out the angle here....

The agenda is that FP+ has ruined everything and made wait times go crazy. That has not been my experience, but you know, I guess I'm the only lucky one here. We were there just a few weeks ago, and did not see anything crazy for wait times, except for the normal headliners.

So, I've been to the MK the first weeks of October, December, and March. And every time there was some part of the day when PotC was down to 15 minutes. Just gotta keep checking the app. I can see how on peak days that would never happen.

Problem is PotC keeps having stoppages which can make the wait time skyrocket (I know, last time I was stuck in front of Sparrow on his gold hoard trying to discern his mumblings for 20 minutes.)

But it also has a monster capacity. Even Shanghai's POTC can get pretty low.

Remember it's also older and the worst of the POTCs, so while is is still a wonderful attraction it's not "new" and it's not the best or second best at the park like the other pirates are, but it should not ever be closed EVER. It's still immensely popular and a good attraction. I wouldn't mind Shanghai's at HWS though, or a new ride in Adventureland.

Wait times aren't always an indicator of popularity or anything like that. I didn't see Pirates below 30-45 minutes when I was there two weeks ago. It also seems to still have shutdowns which will then pump up the wait time. There are a lot of factors that play into wait times. It's all about timing.

But to be fair, and I know crowds are a lot heavier than they even were back in 2006-2008 when I hit the parks on a fairly regular basis (before taking a bit of a break for a couple of years to travel elsewhere and take a couple of cruises) I was still able to walk onto a lot of things.

I don't have an agenda when I say I think FP and FP+ has indeed raised the wait times on a lot of things. But then crowds are indeed heavier, so who knows? But I DO see a difference. I would often walk onto Pirates, Mansion, Spaceship Earth, Small World, among others. Now I see frequent waits. Doesn't mean they didn't exist before (and there used to be actual slower times), it's just a matter of timing.

Everyone must ride Pirates before 9:00pm, we almost always walk right on Pirates between 9-11pm, this is on Friday and Saturday nights, and as recent as 2 wks ago when we were last at MK. Also this ride is almost a gimmie FP any time of day. If your from out of town visiting I get waiting in line during the afternoons, but locals should know better that this ride isn't worth a 30+ min wait.

I love pirates! I wish we could get WRE though. Never gonna happen. Doesn't even look like we will get an attraction on west half of the park in the next 5 years. It's all about TL.

Well, it's an old argument going back years to when FP+ debuted. It was all analyzed and discussed ad nauseum. But mathematically, I don't know if you could make the argument that FP+ doesn't have any affect on waits, however. I guess how significant it is, is up for debate.

There was a reason that traditional FP was removed from attractions like HM and Pirates after a few years -- they just didn't need it. Just last year, our party got into the FP line at Pirates and I noticed another guest entering the standby line (he had a noticeably bright shirt). When were were at the top of the loading ramp, I noticed that he and his group from the standby line was getting on their boat already. The FP+ return line was actually longer than the standby line.

As another poster mentioned, there can be many reasons Pirates often has a longer wait than it used to. FP+, but also maybe Pirates may just be more popular due to all the movies, and the fact that the MK has higher attendance than ever. It's most likely a combination of factors.

I agree that it is a lot of different factors, including a lot more people being there. I guess people have to latch onto just one reason for it all, right or wrong, to make themselves feel better.
