Why woud a Hp ride ruin wdw? Have you read the books? seen the movies? I'm not sure how i feel about a HP ride but I'm pretty sure I know i wouldn't feel it ruined the park if it is built.

so it really will be true! XD omg I can't wait to see it then!!!!!!!:sohappy: hooray for HP!

Oh, dear.

Is it just me, or did anybody like Harry Potter so much better when he was just a character in a set of terrific books?

Now it's a marketing monster--crummy movies, commercialization, stupid products, heck, even, candy. As the name is used to sell more and more crap, my distaste grows and grows. It's a shame to. The novels were excellent. Ahh...the joy of reading. Where have you gone?

I hate to say it, but what you just described almost sounds like Disney? It all just started out as a little Mickey Mouse cartoon character, then they made films, then they opened a theme park and all of the commercialism....... (Except for the most part the films are quite good and the merchandise is not total crap yet).

No its not. Don't get your hopes up. It's not been confirmed, and the only person who has been spreading possible rumors about it is Bill. And we all know how reliable he is.

I love HP, I love the books and the movies. However, I'm not sure if it will be a good theme park attraction though. Because the big question comes up is, "Make it based off the books, or based off of the movies?" I think that no one at all should make a ride out of it.

So, that being said PLEASE LET THIS THREAD DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M TIRED OF HARRY POTTER THREADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIE!!!!!!! DIE!!!!!!!!! DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call me crazy but what does Harry Potter have to do with Disney? I work at Walt Disney World and I must say personally they ever put anything Harry Potter at any of the parks I will never again set foot in them except to work.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but last year while waiting for my family to come out of TOT, they had Harry Potter books for sale in the giftshop. I would love to see Disney do something with a Harry Potter ride, especially at MGM. However, I don't see that happening any time soon.

Okay, I'm not technically adding to the thread, but here are a couple of details:

1. HP books are also sold at the UK in Epcot.
2. The Indiana Jones movies (at least the first three) were done by Paramount Pictures, and Michael Eisner was a head there (not sure what title) at one time, so there is a connection there.
3. Star Wars and Indiana Jones are not the only George Lucas rights in the parks. Roger Rabbit and Alien Encounter were also George Lucas ideas.

Actually, Steven Spielberg was behing Roger Rabbit, but Industrial Lights and Magic, a special effects studio owned by George Lucas, was used for some of the animation scenes.

After doing a little more research, mostly online, I finally found out how the Harry Potter ride rumor got started. About 2 or 3 years ago, when someone at Disney-MGM (on a day Michael Eisner was in the park) who was assumed to be an Imagineer, spoke on a cellphone conversation "I need those Harry Potter ride storyboards ready by Monday". Whether this person actually was a WDI Imagineer remains to be seen. Shortly after that, Universal Orlando President Bob Gault was asked at a meeting, "Has Universal pursued Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter?" His reply was, “Disney has Harry Potter wrapped up. We will check into Lord of the Rings."

Just thought you'd like to know! :animwink:

If there was to be any Harry Potter type ride or attraction anywhere< I think it would be at a Six Flags because Warner Bros owns (I think) the theme parks. And since they have the movie rights to the series that would be the most likely place where it would be.

Though Disney would do a far better job with it, I really can't see how any of the books or movies could be translated into a ride. Some time of show maybe but that would be pushing it.

I'm sure it's been said in this thread, but Disney has the rights to do a Harry Potter ride. That being said, we've tried to squash this thread on numerous occasions because as far as we know the planning stages for a ride themed around these books haven't really gotten off the ground.

If a HP ride is to appear in one of WDW's parks I'd say look towards a probably 07 or 08 for such a ride to be announced. That is after EE is finished. :D
And yes I know I'm not letting this thread die. Considering how they have Merlin in the MK I don't see why they couldn't have HP also either there in MK or perhaps the Studios. But seriously if and when the word does go out about an HP attraction/ride it will be after the ride in AK is finished and most likely place for such an attraction will be the MK.
Do I know something? Maybe only time will sort it out, to be either fact or fiction. Or just something that someone imagineered from scratch to be nothing more then a rumour?
