im glad this is selling well...should be a great event which will lend itself to more sell outs

I'm looking forward to some videos (not of the whole event, want somethings to be left to the imagination) including the street party.

I'm envisioning a non-denominational holiday season show in the future that could be a lot of fun.

No, I can still say that I personally don't think it's worth it in general because I don't think it offers value for the cost - especially when compared to other Disney offerings.

For example, $100 you get access to the a the world's most famous theme park, including unlimited rides, parades, fireworks and shows for upwards of 10-15+ hours by virtue of a one-day ticket to Magic Kingdom.
Or, for that same $100 you get access to 5 million synchronized dancing Christmas lights PLUS 10-15+ hours in a theme park including "expert performers" and show (Fantasmic) in DHS during the holidays.
Or, even more comparable, that same $100 also gets you a celebrity narrator, a choir ("expert performers") with music PLUS a 10-15+ hours in a theme park, with a nighttime fireworks/laser light show (Illuminations) at Epcot during the Candlelight Processional.
Even just extra, hard-ticket events you get more. $70 gets you officially 5 hours (unofficially 8 hours! starting at 4pm) plus special parades, special fireworks, special shows AND an entire world-famous theme park at MNSSHP or MVMCP.

So why is $134/person good value for money for three hours, no rides, just a show and food? If it were 4pm-midnight, the show, the food AND access to all of AK rides like the other hard ticket parties, I'd think it was a fair price. But as it stands, I think it's poor value for money, especially given what else that much money buys you right there on Disney property.

Hey, I'm in no way saying someone who wants to do it shouldn't. By all means, whatever floats your boat! Have fun! But I personally feel it's extremely overpriced and a bad value.
This is all your opinion. I'm not saying i'd pay the $119 or not, but I don't think it's a bad deal. I actually think, for the price, broken down to a $60 show w/celbrity narrator, $20 welcome reception and $40 after show buffet and street party, it's perfectly worth it for a nice night out. Maybe a tad overpriced, but if I were to hear reviews/see video and think it looks like a good time, I would probably have no problem spending the money to have a nice night out with someone.

I am also afraid of guest resenting that they have to pay $120 each to see the "good" show and regular guests get to see the free show which is inferior. Will guests wonder why they paid $100 a day to get into the park, but that is not good enough to see the "good" show.
I'd wager that most won't even know there is another version of the show.

Yes, it IS all my opinion. Obviously.

And I don't know why you feel the need to continue to push your opinion it's a good value as if it were fact or as if yours is the only valid opinion. Especially since I never, even remotely said it wasn't anything except MY PERSONAL OPINION that I felt it wasn't good value. (Not to mention I long since bowed out of the conversation.)

I mean...I said it TWICE. Here, I'll even highlight it in red:
No, I can still say that I personally don't think it's worth it...

Jeez, it's clearly AN OPINION. And I never said nor implied otherwise. So enough. Your opinion is right FOR YOU and my opinion is right FOR ME and that's really the natural conclusion to this. Please stop trying to tell me I'm wrong and/or that I'm somehow telling people what to think when I've simply stated from the opening that I personally find it to be extremely overpriced.

Can't remember a time where I opened up my credit card statement after a trip to Disney and said to myself, "What a great value!"...

That being said, I signed up the whole family for this event in a moment of weakness. Heading to the World the first week of June and I think this will be a great way to wind up our vacation (notwithstanding later credit card bill )

I love all the time and money I spend at WDW. I only wish they would extend this show through September 20 so I could see it. I think the price is fine given all that you get and think it would add something to my anniversary week vacation.

If I didn't have a child(who's idea was that, anyway?) I would probably do this. But, I am a sucker, and I like to try everything.

Love your first paragraph! Too true. Although I have ways of offsetting that bill before it happens, fact is, I'm still spending that money. Is a heartburn inducing corn dog from Casey's Corner a better value than this? I'd have to argue not. At least with this event you'll have memories (and hopefully no heartburn, hehe)

I think you and others will be happy with the event. And when it comes down to it, isn't that what counts on vacation?

Well I've done NYE at California Grill twice. I'm interested in hearing about the ones you have been to you didn't enjoy.

From Tables in Wonderland events to D23 events, I too have been to many special events at both parks and feel that they have been worth the money. Some have been better than others, but I always look forward to them.

I can see both sides of the coin. People complain that what at one time was free is now charged a premium. But the general public has proven that there is a market for premium events, whether they want to admit it or not. Look at the last few times Disney has tried to do special things at the parks: 24-hour days, Unleash the Villains on Friday the 13th, May the 4th 2013 and people showed up in droves. After all was said and done, the people came to the message boards and said we went, it was crowded, Disney didn't know what they were doing, they weren't prepared for the crowds, it was unpleasant, it was unmanageable, etc.
So now Disney is offering something to those people who want that special experience in the park but not want to fight the crowds. And like you said earlier, Disney has always been pretty well done.

Oooh the big one. I've often wondered is the food a special menu? I know it's pushing $550 nowadays so it must be fantastic

This may have already been covered but I didn't see it, will there be bus transportation to and from AK Lodge on the nights of this event?

I hate when people try to make excuses when disney flagrantly tries to rip people off. They justify it by saying o well this costs this much and that costs that much. It still doesn't make this any better of a deal ITS STILL A RIP OFF!

Definitely not an apologist here...

I have no problem paying premium prices for premium, UNIQUE experiences. A dessert party does not fit that bill. My overarching solution to all of WDWs problems is to further accelerate price increases, while adding back in all the quality lost the past few years, to the point it prices out the Walmart/lifestyler/booboo crowd. I figure $150 day tickets & $2000 APs should do it
