Happy New Year to everyone here!

I know that everyone across the world celebrates the new year at different times, and some have already started. (Saw Australia's fireworks on TV already!)

Let us know when you have celebrated, and what you did (or plan to do) to ring in the new year. I would love to hear how all of international friends celebrate....

So, we can call this our 24 hours of celebration!!

(Not quite 18 months like Disney likes to do, but it will do!)

Happy 2006! :sohappy:

Paul

P.S.: It is currently 3:56 p.m. Eastern Time on 12/31/05 in the U.S., and I plan to celebrate simply this year: watching ________ Clark make his return on TV!

I'm on EST in the US as well. I don't know what I'll be watching tonight, but afterwards, I WILL be banging pots and pans on the back porch.

Does anyone know if the NYE shows on TV get the 5 second delay because they're live?

My MIL always opens the door at midnight to let the old year out and the new one in. Wouldn't be bad if we lived in, say Florida, but here in RI it gets pretty darn cold! :brick:

Pots 'n pans for us :D

My sister is having yet another party, but the first NYE one we've had. We're having karaoke night with my new keyboard (I found out a microphone was included... hooray   ).

I'm not sure, they may account for it during the countdown. I do know that there will be a one second delay because of the "leap second" though.

I'm not much help am I?

Makes you wonder if we've been celebrating the new year 5 seconds too early all this time...

It would be 6, actually. They added an extra second to the atomic clocks to keep up with the earth's rotation.

HAPPY SAFE AND HEALTHY 2006.....what will I be doing - I am hoping to be watching t.v. in the comfort of my home BUT>>>>>if TRADITION has it's way - I will be on an MVA because some drunk decided to get behind the wheel of their car and drive home. Also, I will have some teenager puke on me because his/her parents thought it would be fine for him/her to get drunk tonight.PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT TONIGHT.

We usually stay up to watch the ball drop in Times Square... have a few snacks during the evening and watch the countdown shows...

My sons are staying up until midnight, but since the queen and I are trying to get over being sick, we shall be fast asleep when the Earth completes it's orbit around the Sun...extra second or not.

I would love to stay up and set off some fireworks at midnight, but our neighborhood is too quiet for such fun. I might get too many dirty looks from the neighbors...can't have that!:D

The idiots come out to play on New Years Eve. The fireworks (all illegal) have been relentless for most of the night and one of my neighbors has been kind enough to shoot an M4 Carbine in three-round burst mode on two occasions. In recognition, some of the "good ole boys" in the neighborhood have attempted to emulate the M4 Carbine owner with their hunting rifles and shotguns in their own versions of a three-round burst. You might be a redneck if....

Oh, I forgot... I guess I'm watching the Leafs-Devils game until 10.

Freddy: GO LEAFS! :lookaroun
What!? Just because I live in NJ doesn't mean I watch (or care for) the Devils. Actually, I don't even like hockey.

Anywho, Happy New Year everyone!!!

I'm doing diddly squat. Well, wasting Steve's bandwidth, just like I spend 90% of my time. :)

Cool! Are you going someplace nicer (there are worse places than Detroit)?
