They'll eventually test a revamped HEA after this. I hope they will the pre-pandemic pyro in the show.
Given the fact that is likely about to be the MK's permanent nighttime show for the foreseeable future I'm sure that they'll bring most of the pyro back. Idk if we'll see 2017 Happily Ever After come April but definitely the HEA we were familiar with right before the pandemic hit is what I think we'll see.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t consider HEA coming back as something super exciting. Sure it’s better than DE by far and I do like HEA, but it’s return is kind of whatever. Something new for MK would’ve been nice this year especially after the 50th disappointment.

I disagree, Happily Ever After only ran for about three years because of the closure, and not a lot of people have seen it compared to Wishes and I think that the Main Street projections will make it amazing.

For many, it’s the return of a show that ended way too soon. But mostly, it’s another move that is towards normal operations. We haven’t seen truly normal operations for three years now and I think mentally, Happily Ever After is associated with that. At least, for me it is.

I would call HEA 2021 back to Normal Operation, not 2023...

Shouldn't we be well into Normal Operation by now?

I think they should bring back one of the projection shows after the fireworks (Celebrate the Magic, The Magic the memories and You!, Once Upon a Time). They added to the nighttime atmosphere of Magic Kingdom and gave people something else to do. I think they should bring Celebrate Tokyo Disneyland to Magic Kingdom and remove the parts thats from the rides that aren’t in Magic Kingdom.

Nah this was the safer option to play. Unless they bring the teams from World of Color One and Wondrous Journeys over in California to produce a new MK show, I'm not confident in WDW's ability to push out another MK show at the caliber of HEA.

Yes, Happily Ever After is an element of that pre-pandemic WDW we've been inching closer to in the past 2 years.

On-top of that it never got the run it deserved.

Personally, I don't take away anything from the 90 day run during the summer of 2021 as evidence of anything. That was a pretty last minute decision to bring fireworks back and after they had already made infrastructure changes for Enchantment.

They are clearly putting effort into this show by adding Main Street projections; I don't think we will see the rest of the show in partial form. This show is going to run for longer than Enchantment did. Probably a lot longer.

And honestly, since they are clearly doing this (along with painting, cleaning, new lighting, etc in Tomorrowland) as part of the TRON media event (as @ToTBellHop has said for a long time now) I wouldn't be surprised to see 2017 pyro run for the summer and then they scale back to 2019 this fall. They will also be filming. Not saying it will happen but wouldn't surprise me in the least; especially if they are concerned about waning demand.

But wasn't July 201 a Huge Step in the right direction??? If WDW couldn't have HEA/EF for Summer 2021, would we even have 50th Fireworks???

Fireworks had to be greenlit/return sometime, Thank God it was before the 50th regardless of DE/Harm!

I don’t think they’re going to film it, they didn’t film Fantasmic returning nor did they film the new shows for Disneyland.

Does anyone like it?

It is quite something that the general feelings about almost everything associated with the 50th is "burn it!"
Some people do but if I'm being honest, back to my earlier sentiment: I think a lot of people are associating all of this stuff: Enchantment, castle colors, 50th anniversary, etc. with a really, really unpleasant time in their lives. And I honestly think that has impacted GSAT on all of the above in ways that are not easily measurable. Because of this, I believe long time guests are ultimately seeking a reset on all of it to simply move on. I could be overthinking it but personally, that's how I feel.

I can certainly see that, and I think it's part of the reason Iger's return was greeted with such relief regardless of the ins and outs of how he ran the parks pre-pandemic.

I think Disney exacerbated the general sense of upheaval by taking the breaks off in terms of pricing and reservations during the pandemic. Rather than Disney parks being a source of comfort and refuge from all the turmoil going on in the outside world, they seemed to mirror it. At this point, it seems natural people just want things to go back to normal as much as possible, including bringing back HEA, restoring the castle and World Showcase lagoon, etc.

This is an interesting perspective I never really considered. I do think a lot of the 50th stuff is subconsciously associated with the pandemic era and bob chapek era of the park which im sure is something fans and the company alike want to move past
