Hand and Wand to come down?

The Hat at MGM is alright. It's a cool focal point and good for pictures but I personally prefer the Earful Tower. Maybe had they of had the tower where the hat was, it would be better and different, not shoved at the side of the park that's near the interstate.

I was just at Epcot yesterday, first time seeing the hand/wand in person and it was pretty neat. Sorry. I know that's an unpopular opinion but it's a nice addition. Would I prefer it gone, yeah, I miss the old Epcot but I won't dwell on it and go on rants acting like it's the end of the world.
you don't have to apologize for having an opinion. I happen to like the Wand as well, and I'm not about to apologize to anyone for that--it's a matter of taste, and those of us who like the Wand and Hat will have a better time in the parks.

The wand has served its purpose at Epcot: the park is now fully a "Disney" park, with two new family ride attractions (Nemo and the 3 Cabs). Time to move the wand over to DAK. Let it bestow its magic over the tree of life.

MGM is the park in most need of "magic" these days...

Being that the wand has been up for 7+ years now, I wonder how many first timers that have been there since the Hand & Wand were built would think something is now missing with it gone (if indeed that was to ever happen)?

Does anyone have an idea as to how many visitors per year (%) are new to WDW and have never visited before?

Yup. DAK will surpass MGM for 2007 attendance. Its possible that DAK will ALSO pass Epcot, though less likely.

MGM needs lovin.

Disney guards those sorts of numbers very closely. I've never seen actual figures released. From other sources though, (unofficial guides and such) -- the 'never' visited is actually pretty low. Something like 10-15%. The 'infrequent' guest demographic (one visit every 5-10 years) is a bit larger, in the 30% range.

There's just something kinda funny about comparing the Wand to the Berlin Wall.

Mister Sklar, tear down this wand!

I agree, we don't have huge signs over the castle say "cinderella castle is here" or a huge sign over the tree of life saying this is the "Tree of Life"

Everyone knows what it is...they wouldn't be in disney if they didn't :)

Good logic, think of all the money that could be saved on attraction signage, after all everybody knows what space mountain and splash is.:lookaroun

Perhaps the signs over the castle and tree just haven't been built yet.

I think a tinkerbell hand with a pixie dust trail over the castle that spells out the word "magic" would be the best idea for MK.

I have heard we can expect an enormous dog in Animal Kingdom who will be marking the Tree of Life his "territory" in celebration of AK's 10th anniversary next April. All part of the 28-month Year of a Million Dreams Celebration.

If it sprays a mist of water to cool the place off when it's hot then I'm all for it.

The wand is a symbol of management trying to make EPCOT more popular
but now that it is popular i think it is a bit useless, almost everyone likes epcot now and easily can tell what the geosphere is so the use of a sorceror mickey hand with the title is just pointless.

Without the wand SSE is nothing more than a silver golf ball, I can see those anytime I want. All I need is silver spray paint and my golf bag. The wand gives SSE that extra something it always needed...

Now where did I put my popcorn?
