While Disney is busy making sequels and live action versions of older animated films, perhaps they could revisit the old original Legend of Sleepy Hollow, possibly fleshed out into a full feature film...a little darker, a little more thrilling...Release for Halloween 2027 along with completely reimagined darker town of Sleepy Hollow where Liberty Square currently sits... Now it could be a merch-selling IP, everyone would feel good about the fact that the new area has an IP associated with it...
Liberty Tree Tavern with it's perpetual "Thanksgiving in America" theme could become the Van Tassel Halloween Ball and continue to offer American Colonial fare but with a little twist. Columbia Harbor House theme could be tweaked to represent an old Hudson River port themed QS...It could certainly play better with the idea of The Haunted Mansion being a Hudson River Valley Dutch Gothic style home... on the outskirts of Dutch Colonial Sleepy Hollow...also on the Hudson....
Of course that is all "if" we have to lose the HOP....

Anyway to sidetrack from the political talk I am smelling smoke in the "Sleepy Hollow preamble to Mansion and Villains" direction. Nothing solid, nor really 'insidery' here, but it tracks with what WDW has wanted to try before (HM Restaurant anyone?).

I'm of the opinion Halloween Town could be on the table if they do a preamble direction, but that's my own personal thought.
Interesting, and that's one of the directions I thought they might take instead of Muppets. Preamble into the Villains area, and Sleepy Hollow means they don't have to change much in the area, like building facades. And the Headless Horseman does seem to have popularity via the parade even though most people don't watch the film. But is it enough, and more than Muppets.

I don't think they would do it, but whenever they play the movie in Philharmagic during the Halloween parties, my Dad and I say it would be nice if there was a place, with A/C and seats where you could just camp out in the mid-day sun and watch old Disney movies.

I think they already have one of those at DHS...and as things continue to get more and more expensive, you could stay home and watch TV for free.... Or save the day ticket and lightning lane, and stay at your resort hotel and watch Disney cartoons... I would hate to lose something likt the HOP to be replaced with an air conditioned nap room.

You telling me there are more fans of a Headless Horseman in a parade than there are of the Muppets!?

Don’t get me wrong, I think Sleepy Hollow is a better fit, but I can’t believe HH sells more merch than Muppets.

I think the smartest thing for Disney to do to avoid backlash would be to close the attraction permanently in mid-to-late 2027. . But if they close the Hall of Presidents in 2027 — long before we know who the candidates are in the 2028 race — the closure will look like a general attempt to stay out of politics rather than a specific course of action against a candidate or political party in particular.

They can't close it now, because then it would look like a political statement against Trump and that would anger half the country. I think mid 2026.

Close it in January to update it. Bare minimum in bringing the Trump figure to the front and reusing his oath from last time. Announce its replacement at Destination D23 next year. Close it in May/June. Replacement opens at the same time or slightly after Cars but before Villains.

Why HoP likely won’t close anytime soon: if they replace it, they will have to spend massive $$$ bringing it up to the latest code bc the building is old and if they spend above a threshold amount, they have to update everything. Simply not worth it.

They can simply close it. That costs nothing and maybe could be some sort of tax write off if closed.

Stitch was closed for whatever reason and never reopened.

The thing that I don't comprehend about the "controversy" of HOP in its current form is why somebody who would be upset about the current animatronic that sort of maybe looks like the current President and moves in sync with a recording would even walk into the building. For all attractions at WDW, I enter the queue to experience them because I have decided that I am going to enjoy experiencing the attraction.

I don't enjoy Navi River Journey so I don't get in line to experience it. If I won't enjoy seeing the current HOP show then I won't enter the building. Since Disney has been including the current POTUS in a "speaking" role for quite some time, no matter who it is or what party they belong to, I don't really understand why it is "controversial" in any way or looked at as Disney supporting the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania avenue.

If HOP closes, it's going to be because it's sitting at the near bottom of MK attractions in terms of guest ratings.
I think Disney wants to get rid of all theater attractions and replace them with queued attractions that require LL, or simply close theater attractions to save on air conditioning costs.

Its only a matter of time CoP will destroyed and/or closed.

So we know the following...

1. Fans want to keep HoP related to the presidents.
2. Disney likes to use IPs where possible
3. Disney now owns the Fox catalog of films
4. Disney will likely want something to counter Dark Universe at EU (before they can get Villians Land open)

I think the decision on what to do with HoP should be obvious...
