What do you mean this long? He got more attention than any president other than Lincoln in the last show.
Did he? It's been a while, sorry...

From where I was sitting, it looked like he was nervously fiddling with the rim of his glass of water. I thought it was a nice detail. The face may look weird, but the movement is great.I agree, I don't think it looks very much like him. They certainly didn't do a Depp style job. As well, Washington doesn't look like any painting I have seen.
BTW: What is he doing after the oath of office? He turns and puts his hand toward the table but to what end?
Yeah, that's part of why it's so weird to me. Those of us who worked in Liberty Square use to always make fun of the random Jackson slurping in the middle of the show, it seemed so out of nowhere and bizarre. And then they bring it back in ten fold with this show. They talk about more presidents, but they still maintain the odd crush on Jackson.Did he? It's been a while, sorry...

It certainly doesn't ruin the show, and I don't even know how many people who are Liberty Square obsessionists would even notice. But to me, it's a combination of weird and hilarious.
For me it does the opposite. He's an important president, but he's not as important -- or heroic and incredible -- as they make him sound.
Indeed. He was insane.I freaking love Andrew Jackson. One of my favorite presidents by far, and a complete bad @$$.
He could definitely be called heroic.

As a General in the War of 1812, yes.
That is what I meant but his Presidency was not a fail by any stretch.
And seeing history through a modern perspective makes it easy to be judgemental. But take those same critics and put them back in that era and perspectives would change very quickly. Even for you. Not trying to justify all his actions but armchair historians are like armchair imagineers, it just ain't the same as being there.
I am amazed they covered Jackson like that too. I do not have a very high opinion of him.Robama looks fine to me.
Ah, very interesting.
I am so glad they are delving deeper into History for this. Jackson is rarely mentioned in a "Happy" Disney Americana show. Adds credibility.

Well' I guess I can't question Doris Kearns Goodwin.:lookarounMost historians don't. I don't get it.

No, not a fail, but looking at historical data you will find that his approval raiting slipped quite a lot with all of his bank vetoes and his foreign policy. Not judging here at all, but applying several years of data, and study here.
Now, then...Arm chair?
1.Um, a Presidency should not be judged by "approval ratings". Presidents have to do unpopular things sometimes. That really is a narrow way to view a Presidency.
2.And I hope Doris is not your only source for history.
3. But I think you know much more history than me. Your type are very rare these days. History is a great subject, too bad not enough people realize it.
First off, of course not...But not wanting to delve into all my books, a quick internet search on approval ratings can be pretty accurate, seeing I took the ones from when the president left office. And yes, there are ton of ways to judge one, this just gave me the emperical info I needed.
Right, but looking back on Jackson, and you will still find the controversy. Not exactly true. Harry Truman's approval ratings were in the tank being only a little higher than George Bush's when he left office, but now he's considered one of our greatest presidents.
On the subject of Andrew Jackson, I don't think very highly of him either. And its not just WHAT he did with the trail of tears, but HOW he did it. Everyone in Washington said no to the relocation but Jackson managed to override them in a very dictator-like way.
Oh, just because he shot Hamilton in the face, and wanted a Kingdom in the West USA does NOT make him cool...:ROFLOL:Andrew Jackson was no where near as cool/nuts as Aaron Burr.
