Guests Injured By Falling Light On Expedition Everest

If it were actually a temporary light fixture it would have looked something like this:

which it appears it is meant to look like, but there was no base or generator as seen here. This seems to be a permanent fixture that was not inspected recently.

Well at least this explains why they are raising the cost of a ticket to get in:

Everyone will now be issued a standard hard hat when entering the park.

Optional ears and princess stickers will be for sale to enhance the helmets!

:)

I do hope everyone involved is OK, though, in all seriousness.

Anyone wanna make excuses for more poor management?

I love when fanbois do that.

Seriously, what does it take to get fired as a WDW exec?

Oh that's right, out and out accounting fraud followed by a letter of recommendation from the division President a few months later.

If it was intended to be a themed fixture, as suggested above, then why was it the only one of its kind? Are there others like it throughout the attraction that I just haven't noticed? It always stood out and seemed out of place to me, and thus not "themed."

Well, as the youtube comments stated,

"I'm a Yeti, and I'm a PC"

edit: it turns out the Yeti was checking his OKCupid messages and was mad that there were no replies, and thus, ripped up the track.

LOL :ROFLOL:

I wouldn't be surprised if audiences are exposed to color bars on the water screens at Fantasmic :brick:

I wonder whether that ever experiences a blue screen of death. Or perhaps if they still used Windows ME it would read something like "yeti.exe has caused an error in kernel32.dll".

Its pretty standard when installing a lamp post to dig a good size hole and fill with gravel (for drainage), and then concrete. Wires carrying line voltage (110v like in your standard house outlets) are buried relatively deep. For a lamp post to completely fall over is pretty unheard of, unless your talking about very strong wind conditions AND usually the lamp post in question is tall and near an area with poor drainage or a good slope. For the small lamp post in question to fall over would mean that, given its age, it was installed by incompetent baboons who maybe tried to save fifty bucks by forgoing cement!

Disney does use 12-volt systems for some of their lighting systems. When I was in Disneyland, I saw a spot light with wires protruding and wire nuts in front of Peter Pan's!! I assumed it was a 12 volt system, but it looked like line voltage . . . given the black and white wires (I assume it was converted to low voltage) . . . If it was, then they aren't using licensed electricians, or somebody is so lazy as to create a real danger for guests.

Also, in the YouTube video I saw speakers mounted on what looked like a wooden post . . . I know Disney paints metal/resin posts to look like wood, but having loud speakers just mounted like that isn't good theming. Even the big box department stores carry speaker hidden in fake rocks! The theming outside of EE also looked boring, IMHO, when compared to the rest of WDW. I know some people like the plants, but its about as good as rest of WDW, which has a lot of nice maintained greenery.

Yep because that menu pops up all the time. Oh wait, no, it was obviously a very rare instance.

The loudspeaker probably has to do with PA announcements needing to be audible over a large outdoor area. As for the rest of your statements, I agree that there could be more props and structures around the exterior parts of the track, but then again, the real Himalayan region is very bare and scarce.

Also, the theming of Asia/Anandapur is basically top notch when it comes to authenticity and detail. If you're referring to this, I don't see how you could call it boring.

I can't believe more people aren't upset by this. Safety/legal concerns are understandable, but lets hope these are temporary structures. Animal Kingdom thrives on immersing guests in earth's natural beauty. The Tree Of Life is one of Disney's greatest flagship structures, to have its view obstructed undermines the park message and cheapens the experience.

I'm sorry, but I almost just spit my Diet Pepsi out on my keyboard. ;)

There is nothing natural about Animal Kingdom.

It's all completely constructed from swampland.

That doesn't mean some of it isn't impressive - but it's about as "real" as World Showcase.

Ah, is that why the Yeti is broken? 'cause he doesn't actually exist in real life?

/shocked they haven't used that excuse yet. ;)

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
A strange reflection of society that a thread about a 15 year old fairy gets more condemnatory posts than a thread about physical injury.

Fan boys truly are a gift to corporations. Cha ching.

"Disney said no one was taken to the hospital, but the theme park could not say whether anyone was sitting in the car when the pole fell." -Orlando Sentinel

Um, if the train was empty, wouldn't that be the first thing that Disney would want the public to know? A statement from Disney like the one above is pretty much something that one might call consciousness of guilt. :brick:
