Guest attacks Disney bus driver

I know ppl who are in that kind of situation (about strollers, etc) and they don't care and just wait for another bus. Not beat up the bus driver…

Any decent human being wouldn't beat up the driver just because it's full!
He obviously isn't one!

What did the guy want? Did he just expect the driver to say:
"Excuse me passengers. Will a couple of you who are on this bus that have waited just as long, if not longer to board, please exit the bus so that this family may board? They are a priority as they have a baby and simply cannot have another empty bus that should arrive in 4 minutes."

That doesn't answer the question.

Guests at Pop and All Stars have a much shorter wait, on average, for buses than guests at the GF or Poly.

I, for one, think the Disney bus system is for the most part, pretty darn efficient. But having stayed at all levels of resorts, there is absolutely no doubt - The bus service at the Deluxe Resorts is the worst.

Ok so I am missing the point of your argument?? Are you saying that there is any justification for what this guy did? I am just wondering what relevancy this has to a guy throwing a BABY because he wasn't given priority seating and threw a temper tantrum? Not trying to be inflammatory just wondering..

Address the problem

I'm not arguing with you, just using your post to make a point. If you have issue with the Disney Transportation system, please rent a car or use taxis. It will free up space for us that do use it and dont get freaked out by the wait, family with strollers and people in wheel chairs/scooters and their families who board ahead of us able bodied people. I know it sucks standing or waiting for another bus or a bus in the first place. This is FREE transportation system, go demand a bus to pick you up for free and take you to Sea World or Universale Studios. Oh yeah, when it take forever to get to your car, because your parked all the way in the back and then takes forever to get out of the parking lot, making the wait for a bus seam trivial.
Tom,
I hear your point and I'm not arguing with you either. I would like to also make a point. If Disney is offering the bus service to keep people on property and spending money in the parks (yes it's part of a business plan) then they should be responsible and make sure that it is operating efficiently and safely. The answer to a problem lies in addressing the problem, not saying rent a car or taxi if you don't like it so that there's more room for me. And sorry but plenty of people I've seen in wheelchairs are able bodied and choose to sit in a wheelchair for reasons we can all draw conclusions from. I know this because I more than once witnessed those wheelchair bound people get up out of their chair without crutches or assistance and walk onto the bus when they HAD to because they couldn't get the chair on after 20 minutes trying. We all appreciate the free bus service. But none of us appreciate the problems with it. Let's address these problems and get them fixed. And violence or hate is never the answer. We should also apply this toward each other in the parks. Food for thought.

goofntink, I appreciate you sharing your information. I have no trouble 'believing' your posts, and I thank you for shedding all of the light you have on the situation. I have learned quite a bit about the Bus Transportation system and operations just from reading your posts, which have also been very un-biased. Please do not let others make you re-consider posting any of your information. I look forward to your posts.

I work for bus operations and the entire incident was caught on the security cameras.Every load zone has a high def camera that sees the bus and load zone. We can actually zoom in with the cameras and read the drivers name and his hometown on his name tag on their uniform. Also in the video one of the gentleman on the bus,{I wont identify him} was one of our plain clothes security officers and was in the load zone at the time and witnessed the attack. Security was called along with the OCSO,and yes it took them a few minutes to get to him. This was because the bus was in load zone C7 which is in the charter bus lot and away from the regular Resort load zones near the entrance to Hollywood Studios. If you watch the video closely you will see flashing red and blue lights illuminating the side off the bus. When the wife saw them pull up the wife took off,and tried to hide in the crowd, and left her child with the husband. Other guests identified her to security. They were then removed from the bus and load zone and taken backstage. The gentleman was then arrested and handcuffed for assault on the driver. He is also facing charges for Terrorist threat due to the assault happening on the bus, and public endangerment. They were also ejected from the resort they were staying at,and trespassed from Walt Disney World property. They will not be returning to the Happiest Place on Earth ever again. Also everyone will be happy to hear the driver was not reprimanded for the incident, and continued with his job that evening. I actually saw and talked to him last night and he is doing fine.
Also forgot to add copy of the security tape was provided to the OCSO,they are in turn forwarding it to the state attorney for possible further charges of Felony child neglect and endangerment.

I will say this for Disney. They have security and off duty and on duty OC Police all over the place. If they are called they come out of the woodwork in droves. As for the professionalism of the Disney security, I will attest to their behavior as being way above par of any other private security organization I have dealt with or worked for.

Shameless plug, if he is here. Hi Ed on the Bike from Disney Security. Thanks for the help with the car. My wife and I thank you for your help. Nice fellow, I locked my keys in the car with the motor running:hammer:. I sent my wife to get security since they would need to let AAA in and to where I was. Ed helped out with all that, and we just wanted to say THANK YOU:wave:

Normally I stay out of these things but feel the need to comment:

Some people are in wheelchairs due to heart or lung issues - they are physically able to walk - no issues with their legs - but it is recommended that they do not due to the possibility the exertion could wreak havoc on these vital organs. A close friend had a heart transplant and was in this category. He looked fine - but was in a wheelchair initially to ease the burdon on the new heart. Yes - of course there are people who abuse it - however - no need to pass judgement on all without knowing the facts.

Of course not. The topic jjst got a bit OT, and we started talking about bus service overall.

Fact or opinoin? If it is a fact I would love to see a link to the study that prove the shorter wait for the values vs GF or Poly.

OK - Opinion. Of me, and pretty much everyone else that has stayed both Value and Deluxe. Do you think they're all making it up too?

I'll create a poll and then you can tell me what you think?

To goofntink,

Just from myself, I personally would like to thank you for your post. You are trying to give us information that in the end will help us all. The Disney bus system I feel is quite good. No system is perfect but you do try your best.

Why some on here (captainkidd it would seem) rip you apart is beyond me.

To take the abuse you have gotten on here and still try to help us by giving us the info to help us all with the bus system just goes to show that you are a top notch guy.

THANK YOU,

From Brian (PalisadesPkteer)

I too, am amazed at guests behavior when it comes to the buses. What really irks me is to see young, able bodied males sitting in a seat when a woman and/or child is standing. What happened to good old fashioned courtesy? During my recent 8 night stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I sat only twice on the bus because there was always someone standing that should have been seated. Here I am, a 49 year old male, giving up my seat, while loads of older teenage and 20-something males, sat on their fat "you know what's". Parents need to teach their boys (from a young age), how to be polite and to always do the right thing.

Here's a challenge to all the able-bodied young men on the WDWMagic Forums...next time you're on a Disney bus and all the seats fill up (and you're still sitting), try offering your seat to ANY standing woman or young child, or any experienced (my way of saying "older") adult. It will make you a better person in the end, and you might actually feel good about yourself for doing the right thing.

OK....that's the end of my minor rant! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...yea Disney, for taking care of the "strangler/baby "!

How do you know which young males are able bodied? How do you know that the young male your chastising for sitting down didn't wait for a second bus just cause he wanted a seat? I don't think theres anything wrong with young males or anyone for that matter choosing to sit and not giving up their seat. We all have the choice to rent a car and not have to worry about it, but if you choose to take the buses during your vacation, then expect that you will probably have to stand sometimes. I would never expect, nor want anyone to give up their seat to me and I would turn them down if they offered it. You got their before me, its your seat. Plain and simple.

And I'd just like to add that Im happy that they got the terrorist threat in there. I'll be able to sleep well tonight. :snore:

I've given up offering my seat up to women. They just politely decline anyway, even the elderly do to if you insist. Sometimes they even get offended at the gesture.

These are both excellent points that aggravate me too. The hotels you mentioned are deluxe, yet Pop Century has superior bus service.

While it may not make sense from outside perspective keep in mind that Disney has the data for everything. THey know which routes historicly have a lot of passengers and which don't between various origin and destinations.

Is the system always perfect, no. Do situations occur outside of the parameters on occasion, yes.

Consider that Disney is even busier now than it was 10 years ago. It has more busses as well. THe overall efficiency of the operation has certianly improved with all of the technology being utlized. Is there still room for improvement? Absolutely.

Disney transportation CM are somewhat infamous for spreading some of the most outlandish rumors about WDW. Some of the better ones would include the monorail going through the S&D hotel in a similar way to the Contemporary, Cinderella's castle can be quickly dissembled in case of a hurricane, etc.

Which is why I take a poster's detailed description of the events of the evening with a grain of salt. One glaring example is when the poster's says look you can see the red and blue lights on the bus. I watched the video several times and only saw some of the glare from the Fantasmic Show that started about 9pm that evening. (if you can tell me where and what time to see red and blue lights in the video, I will retract)

Some third-hand info I read about this incident in a discussion on another forum:

Supposedly the incident started with a non-folded stroller. The Guest got to the front of the line and hadn't folded his stroller. He was taking a long time to fold it, and the driver let other Guests load onto the bus while he messed with it. By the time the Guest got the stroller folded, the bus had filled up and the driver wouldn't let him board. This set him off, which explains his comments in the video about "being at the front and everyone else rushing past him".
