Guest attacks Disney bus driver

Yeah. I was curious. Thanks. One more thing. Did you swim in the pool at the Poly while you were there? I've heard it's pretty nice. Free too, huh?

Nope. There are signs around the Poly pool restricting the use of the pool to resort guests only. There are no such restrictions for the Disney transportation system...

Why should a few signs around a pool matter? This is from the WDW Resorts website. Here's the link, too:

So Disney transportation is only available to guests of select Walt Disney World resort hotels? Where does it say it is not available to non resort guests? Do you consider the Monorail or ferry boat to be Disney transportation? Thousands of non resort guests a day use both the boat and monorail as transportation from the TTC to MK. Disney seems to encouarge that practice.....

Doesn't say "Is only available to..." or that it specifically isn't available to non-resort-guests. If you're going to get into the overly ridiculous semantic argument, quote stuff that actually supports your side of the overly ridiculous semantic argument!

The above quote is taken from the page on the Disney world website for Disney Resort Guests and benefits of staying there - hence the wording of 'guests of select Walt Disney World Resort Hotels'.

They could state that non-resort guests can use transportation for park to park and park to hotel transportation but there is no real need to, probably seen as detracting from the advertised benefit.

It is a complimentary service in that there is no fare to pay as such. Your fare is paid by those paying to stay at a Disney Resort hotel or by everyone buying merchandise etc

In the past they have often said that a Key to the World card is required, but I cant remember in the 14 years of staying at a Disney Resort we have had ours checked. I think the concern came from the fact non resort guests would try park up at a hotel and then use the transportation, avoiding parking charges at the park. However, its a hard policy to police as it were, because people could be using transportation to meet friends at a resort or for dining which is why they never check.

I've stayed at WDW and DL no less than 25 times during the last 15 years or so and each stay was for a week or more. During this time period, I've also stayed off property a few times. While staying off property, I've driven to FtW, parked for free, and then used WDW transportation for FREE. I've also parked at the Contemp for free under the ruse of "going to breakfast at Chef Mickeys" so I could be a 3 minute walk from MK and not have to pay.

I've easily spent 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS on Disney in the last 15 years. Do I really REALLY think I "stole" a parking spot or a bus ride from Disney at this point in my life? :ROFLOL:

Now don't you feel pretty stupid for these moot arguments about stealing from WDW?

Swimming in pools is restricted to guests of that resort. (with a few exceptions.)

Riding on a bus is NOT restricted to guests of the resorts.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

I have purchased a LOT of stuff from WalMart over the years. A LOT of stuff.

Thank you for pointing out how stupid I am for not taking my fair share from their shelves for free.

I'm leaving RIGHT NOW to go to WalMart and help myself to a few things from their shelves - without paying. They have taken so much of my money in the past, they OWE me some free stuff.

Entitlement mentality. "I've spent so much money here that it's okay if I don't pay for something for WHICH THERE IS A FEE."

Do I feel pretty stupid? Nah, not so much.

The cost of Disney transportation is included in the price of the admission media. It has been set up like that from the very beginnings of DL and WDW. The transportation system (Steam Train and Monorail) was originally owned privately by Walt Disney. It was his money “honey hole”. He had a captive audience for his transportation system and he could charge DL and WDW (owned by the stockholders) any price he desired since there was no competition. He milked the stockholders for a lot of money for many years with his clever system.

I have noticed over the years that there are lots of people who use the bus system to get around the parks that arent staying at a resort hotel.
There is pros and cons for Disney on this one.

Pro: people get to see the/a resort(s) and maybe want to stay there someday, and maybe grab some lunch at the food court while there "visiting"...

Con: more than normal bus crowding, people looking for a freebee on the backs of others

flip a coin.

I bet none of you speed, roll through stop signs, cheat on your taxes, or ask for free refills either? You all are a bunch of hypocrites, I guarantee it. The Walmart example doesn't hold water. They are a steep discounter and you are paying for necessary consumables. You get your moneys worth there. Disney buses are basically free public transportation while being price gouged at every opportunity on their inclusive property. If they really cared, they would have you swipe your card or use rfid to use their transportation.

I have no feeling of entitlement for a free bus ride or parking. In fact, I think its such a crappy and overvalued service that I rent cars rather than put up with the scooters, lateness, and overcrowding.

Does that make it easier on you knowing my days of fleecing WDW of a few nickels are long gone?:ROFLOL:

Now let's go string up these endless refill mug jerks that keep using mugs from years past! Don't just stop with me!

I speed and roll through stop signs when it won't affect anyone else (and it's not theft).

I use every single legal advantage available to me on my taxes. I don't cheat on them because I can't afford to be audited (not that there's anything wrong with stealing from the government...since it's my money anyway).

I ALWAYS ask for Free Refills, when refills are FREE.

I have no problem with day-guests riding the bus. I DO have a problem with people who lie to parking lot attendants so they can park for free at WDW. In my book, that's actual theft.

The parking fees are in place to help pay for the maintenance and upkeep of those lots. When you park in a lot, you contribute to it's required maintenance, and should therefore pay to park there (unless of course you've offset your "parking footprint" by spending money at that Resort Hotel - the equivalent to validating your parking at a mall parking garage).

It is good to hear that Disney has taken this seriously and will be pressing charges to the fullest extent of the law.

goofntink: Would you happen to know the number of Gillig Advantage buses that WDW received for 2010? I know that they start at 5010-10 and the highest I have seen is 5022-10.
