I figured when @WDW1974 first mentioned it that it wouldn't go over well. However, I am still blown away by the almost unanimously negative feedback this announcement has received. I mean just skimming through comments on all the outlets where the announcement was posted and I would bet that 96-97% are negative. It's astonishing.

It's an amount I would think they can't ignore.

But they will because they don't care because we'll all keep going ...

I know, I for one loathe this idea ... now let me go renew my AP ... ugh ...

I'll probably never go to DL as much as WDW but I do like that DCA is getting an exclusive. I'm not a fan of cloning everything. DHS TOT is one of the best well themed rides ever and should have stayed exclusive there or built to the same quality at the other parks.

One of the biggest problems with this is any Disney park should be adding first instead of replacing an existing ride. Didn't a Captain America roller coaster get green lit? Why not build that first? Now a popular ride with good capacity is going down for 2-3 years in a park with capacity issues. I think I remember reading on here or somewhere else that SWL has a strict timeline which will make things worse .

The mythical immersion is destroyed once one looks around at their fellow guests.

This is what I think lots of people are missing about Star Wars land... yeah it looks great in the concept art when the only inhabitants are wearing rags and space outfits, but when it's crammed with hundreds of strollers, people in Disney T-shirts, Brazilian tour groups... you're going to feel a whole lot less like you've been transported to a galaxy far far away than many people right now seem to realise.

its not going down for two to three years, this is a fast makeover. its only 7 months if I read correctly, closing in January reopening in summer?

Why does an attraction about creating Chevy concept cars prevent a Tron Coaster from being built?

Remember, Disney had the ENTIRE catalog of Marvel properties available to them for DL and DCA...they could have made anything with Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, all of the Avengers together...but instead they make a crappy overlay to a more obscure (relatively) Marvel movie that's less family friendly.

I feel like ALL of this is because they wanted to use the same thing at WDW, as I mentioned before, and even though it seems the WDW TOT project is dead, they're STILL going along with this for DCA instead of making a real attraction that people would like and have good impressions about.

This is honestly my largest issue with this whole thing. It clearly comes across as an idea that evolved and changed and what we got in the end had nothing to do with original intentions.

Honestly the conversation probably went something like, "Hey, we need to finally get Marvel into the parks. But Orlando is limited in what we can use. All we really have is Guardians. There's another Guardians film coming out in 2017. Let's overlay an existing ride so it can be done in time to open with the film release in 2017 because we can't build a new ride that fast. If we find a ride that we have in both Orlando and Anaheim and duplicate the design, we can save costs. It's settled, we'll do a Guardians overlay of Tower of Terror!" And then Orlando backed out and the whole purpose of the idea in the first place is now moot.

We are a acaptive audience. ;)

But the public at large, would they mind? I think not, families show up at Disney's gate nowadays with the dad in a Star Wars shirt with pun that is nowhere near as hip as he thinks and even less flattering to his figure than he fears it is, a daughter in latest princess garb, and a son in superhero outfit. They will be asking what there is to do for their princess, Spiderbrat and Peter Pan-syndrome dad. Would they even understand how somebody could possibly prefer the 1930s dust covered art deco ruin over the latest flashy Marvel Universe ride?

Surely that's true of any theme park land whether it be the old Wild West, Hogsmead, Pandora or Mainstreet? In the end of the day they are theme parks and those pesky tourists and souvenirs are going to jar in the best themed lands.
