Guardians Tower announcement Saturday in SD ...

A problem for the public at large could be that Disney is losing its distinguishing factor. What is Disney anymore but the biggest of a whole string similar companies?

Who could even tell apart a Disney parks from a Universal one? The general public will have no idea who the park is with the Marvel superhero Fear Fall Tower of Terror.

They should have just kept this and rethemed it to GOTG...

I don't believe "Twilight Zone" inspires too many people to come to the parks. "Marvel" or "Guardians of the Galaxy" has that kind of pull. Twilight Zone is a great brand, but alone it will not bring people to the parks. Carl Perkins was a great musician, but slapping his name on something won't have the pull that "Elvis Presley" would have.

Honestly, I have not been upset over the Tower of Terror overlay announcement for Disney California Adventure because their Tower has poor show. There is no true suspension of beliefs with the service elevator. The elevator doors open, guests pass through an exit hallway, and then board the ride vehicle in another room. The thematic transition is choppy and, as a result, does not provide the full immersion that is experienced at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I think it's exactly the trend, and the public is at least in part to blame. We've all heard people recently say, "I'm going to Florida to see Harry Potter." I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "I'm going to Florida to see Universal." Certainly not recently.

Soon, we'll be hearing, "I'm going down to see Avatarland." Or Star Wars land. Or Carsland. That type of branding is probably the future, and everyone is jumping on board. Soon, "I'm going to Anaheim to see Marvel Land." Watch out, it's coming. In this short attention span world of been there done that, new things not only need to be added, they need to be summed up in a few short syllables. "Disney" is too broad of a term. One year it'll be Avatarland, then Star Wars land, etc . . . Such buzzwords more easily create excitement and interest, and our short attention spans let them do it. No one will say, "I am going to Disney to see all of their diverse and separately branded offerings." No, 5 syllable or less will be needed.
At one time many called the park MGM. That's pretty short.

Maybe I missed something, but is it basically a Guardians of the Galaxy refitting of Tower of Terror in Anaheim? That's what I'm gathering here, but just wanted to be sure.

Not taking a strong position here, but it seemed to me that ToT was far less popular at California Adventure than it is in Florida. Maybe I'm wrong, but I found it's placement within the park to be less than optimal as well.
The Anaheim one sucks compared to WDW's.
