It's in reference to the Ghostbusters trailer. Any criticism leveled at it was met with "Oh, misogyny!" And while admittedly many detractors were angry neckbeards, that was dismissive to actual legitimate concerns about the film.

Oh I see. The trailer did not make the movie appeal to me at all, not my fault they made it all women and then gave them a bad script. (I"m not against redo movies in general)

Well, remember the Disney boneheads wanted to do this to TOT at WDW as well. I think WDW1974 deserves some recognition here, for breaking this news weeks ago right here on WDWmagic. Maybe, just maybe, the backlash that ensued helped saner heads to prevail.

Yes I remember. But I think there are other reasons that didn't happen. Yet.

Here's what I don't understand.

As with everything that has been closing lately, no one cares about whatever it is until it's going away. I hadn't heard anyone point out DCA's Tower specifically before all these rumors came about. No one was talking about it. Now it's "OMG IT WAS MY FAVORITE RIDE WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS DISNEY?!" It's night and day just so that you have a basis to complain.

Complaining for the sake of complaining helps no one.

But what do I know, you guys are just going to label me a troll for disagreeing with you and I'll step back into the darkness as always.

The main problem lies not with the closures, but in what is replacing them.

Most members of this discussion board want thoughtful placemaking and exquisite show.

WRE... :'(

I must say, when I look at ride reconstructions, it sorta looks okay, but not as good as Pirates. The adventure and slight mystery of Pirates tops the whimsy of WRE. Not to mention, its subject matter is even more un-pc than 'haha rrrraping pirates arrr'.
The rockwork looks spectacular though, I can't help but wonder how magnificent our RoA would've looked with that massive cliff on one side. It went along beautifully with the MK's grand scale.

DLP + the unfortunate 'Where's Johnny' overlays have rendered the game of 'DL vs MK Pirates' a bit moot. ;)
WRE concept art looks like it would have poked fun at everyone in the Wild West. For the most part, I don't think it would've been controversial; and with a couple of slight adjustments, Disney could (and should) still build it.

Sarcasm as when people made phone calls about this month ago, Disney reps said its was just an april fools joke and no way was it happening. Just online rumours.

Phew, ok. I was getting ready to call 555

But you know, you can't expect companies to reveal their secrets just because you ask.

I don't think there are many people here who will say DCA's Tower of Terror was their favorite ride.

My issues are these.

Since Disney bought Marvel in 2009, their films have grossed nearly TEN BILLION DOLLARS. I don't care about what the future holds, I want to know why such a valuable slate of properties has been given the shaft up until now. And for a franchise as valuable as Guardians of The Galaxy, why aren't they giving it the full-blown new-build attraction it deserves? The same can be said about Frozen. The properties deserve better than to be grafted onto existing attractions. On top of that, California Adventure has hundreds of thousands of square feet within earshot of Tower of Terror that is sitting unused or under-used. Once again, I don't care about what the future holds. Why has it been sitting there this long, and why are they changing an existing and popular attraction with all of the space currently available nearby? It's complete laziness, pure and simple.

Budgetary constraints and corporate meddling are apparently the only things the Guardians can't break out of.
