Unless their kicking out everyone who has a cellphone in their hand, I don't see a way to enforce this.

I think it would be pretty obvious if someone is holding up a cell phone for more then the few seconds it would take to take a picture.

Its pretty easy to hide the fact that your recording/streaming. I've personally done it before.

But whats the reasoning with not allowing any video coverage of it?

They are probably afraid that if you can get it streaming you won't attend the convention, which I highly doubt would happen. They really should take a cue from Star Wars Celebration and live stream at least some of the panels.

At D23, they make you put your phone in a sealed envelope they provide and then have security roaming with night vision goggles to make sure no one's recording (seriously!). No idea if it's similar at Comiccon
