Sorry, the way you were talking, I just figured you were. Oh yes, social media such as FB and the Twitverse is really where you should be getting all of your information. I'll just wait until I actually ride it in person before making up my mind about how well the imagineers did with this one.
Right, just like we shouldn't be taking press releases as fact that they did a good job, like you said above.

Let's reserve judgement for when time to ride, I'm sure it will be fine.

How is that different? Well, for one, look at the size of the "screen." Clearly the mirror is a lot smaller showing how the screen is a part of the attraction and not the sole focus on this floor. Also, the screen is 2D, but that's okay as it is supposed to be a mirror. The current screen is supposed to be open air right in front of you, but instead it feels like a 2D image you're separate from. One worked with our reality, the other works against it. Lastly, are effects occurring outside of the screen. For TOT, the answer is yes. Lightning, wind, the transformation of the walls being glowing to peeling paint. These are other pieces of visual interest. For Guardians...not so much. The only things occurring are within the screen itself. So...quite a few differences. Thanks for posting the visual aid.

From what I've heard, the parallax effect on the new screens is extremely convincing as is the clarity of the video they're using -- gives it a very 3D look without the need for any glasses. Don't judge it until you've gone for a ride. Not saying the old experience was lame, but you're reachin jussssssssst a little bit in defending it against this I think.

Absolutely true. I don't read the press releases. I don't watch their ceremonies (such as the recent Pandora one). I don't watch ride videos or any video posted here about a new area or attraction that I've never seen. I know that most people nowadays can't seem to help themselves, and need to watch every single thing - and then comment about it - but some of us like to wait until we visit an area or attraction on our own, before even thinking about an opinion or comment.

Exactly, just like seeing Mickey in Town Hall means that the big mouse in the parade outside isn't Mickey and we have to come up with a new name for that imposter rodent.

Besides that's not even a good comparison. Mickey isn't trapped in town hall. Doesn't DL always make sure there is only one Mickey Mouse etc. roaming the park or meeting guests at any given time?

The effect is better than a digital screen at home, but its still clearly a 2D image boxed in several feet away. And as I said, there isn't anything to look at except the screen.

Honestly a ride created from a bunch old Disney AA and other Disneyland memorabilia would be pretty fun.

Isn't Jon Favreau working on a script where Disneyland comes to life at night or something like that? I'd love to see a movie like that that maybe goes back in time to show that Walt was aware of this or perhaps even responsible. But I wouldn't want it to go into cheese territory. i.e The Bucaneer AA is on Disneylands payroll and drinks coffee in the break room. I'd like to see a plot twist like not everything is what it seems. Pirate and ghost protagonists. Maybe the Tiki birds aren't as friendly as they seem? Have the AAs be aware of current park strategy and aware of their possible demise as they are outdated. Or maybe a plot that treats the park like a board game that need to be conquered to save the park from (fill in the blank). Ok I digress.

EDIT: I thought u wrote "movie" not "ride." In that case in Florida maybe they can turn GMR into the Great Disneyana Ride

Sounds like Night at The Museum.

There has been rumors of a Joe Favreau Magic Kingdom movie, possibly based off of the Kingdom Keepers book series. However I don't believe there has been any confirmation of it actually happening at this point. But who knows it may eventually happen, just like they said Tron 3 wasn't gonna happen but now appears it might be.

True, without that peeling paint you previously mentioned, it must feel pretty barren.

The walls which change to peeling paint, the wind that blows through the room, the lighting which snakes over the walls, and the reveal of the magical effect of seeing the reflecting of a real empty elevator. Y'know, like action and things happening physically, not just on TV? Way to cherry pick what people said.

That was basically the plot of the "Epic Mickey" videogame. Wasteland (ruled by Oswald) was where all the forgotten Disney characters, animatronics and ride vehicles ended up. One major location was "Mickeyjunk Mountain", a Matterhorn parody build entire of old Mickey merchandise (and all of it modeled after real vintage products).
