Is Cosmo really supposed to be Laika? I'm old enough to remember when Laika was still famous and talked about, the first dog the Soviets shot into space in the late 1950's. Or is Cosmo's name really Cosmo and he's just supposed to be a similar dog to Laika that the Soviets shot into space?

Now that I Googled dear Laika, Cosmo looks very different from him. Laika was a much smaller breed than Cosmo. A stray they picked up off the streets of Moscow. Crazy Russians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika

@Curious Constance you should study up on Laika and then school your son back at the dinner table tonight.

Cosmo is an amalgam of all the animals the Russians used in the 50s and 60s. His name is a play on the Russian term for an Astronaut, Cosmonaut.

Don't get me wrong, I love them and enjoy them immensely. It's just when you start describing it with little context, it sounds REAL dumb.

Yeah, its basically a mainstream cult film. Its weird and obscure in an inclusive way. Unfortunately, some people still do just see it was weird and stupid and cannot get into it. I know a few folks who don't even expect to ride Mission Breakout as the movies didn't appeal to them at all.

Comic Strips in the paper used to be called 'the funnies'.
Agree, but the scope is way different.
Comic Strips on newspapers only are a single line or at most a single page of short story. Most of them were comedies and jokes.
Comic books are actually condensed full stories of certain characters.
Graphic Novels are more serious and has bigger length and usually wade into more realist scenarios.

For example, most comics have, like.. 30 pages (unless its a collector or condensed issue) while most graphic novels are 100+ pages.

For example, the difference between THOR (the comic) vs a graphic novel like BLACKSAD is huge.

Depends on what part of the country. Growing up in Calif. we said Sunday Comics and Comic Books. My Grandpa in OK said Funny Papers and Funny Books. My 17-year-old nephew who is into graphic novels, anime, and manga sometimes refers to them as comics.

Definitely looks better than I would have expected. I appreciate how the use of the soundtrack and fun mood reframes the ride from a drop tower into more of a multi-drop spaceshot, which it really already has been for years with the current ride profiles. I'm pleasantly surprised at how funny the ride script is.

One small thing that rubs me the wrong way is the use of standard materials like normal chain link fence and 55-gallon drums in the queue. These feel really out of place for a building that's supposed to be built and run by aliens, especially when the set designers on the films worked so hard to avoid such shortcuts. It feels cheap and slapdash when surrounded by so many custom-built props.

I was looking at some of the photos from the attraction even tho I'm not a fan of this attraction, SWL or Pandora being in the parks. They register a flat (0) on my interest scale.

One less person in line for you all.

Good to know. Thanks for your input.

same, the Rocket's AA looks awesome.

The action on the video.. I hope it looks better in person. Because it looks cheesily cgiesque bad (like Fast and Furious ride bad)

I like the ride for the most part. I never really doubted that the ride experience would be fun. The only thing I find odd is the music, its a bit distracting from the dialogue but oh well

Actually I find the screaming more of a distraction from the dialogue lol :p

As far as the music goes it fits with the source material. Music of the 60s - early 80s plays a big part of Peter Quill's life. Hence the reference to the Walkman.

I'll have to see each of the profiles with the different scenes. But so far the ones I've seen the choice of song makes sense for the scene. For example "Hit me with your best shot" when Drax "punches" out the beast (I'm blanking on its name right now).
