You know, Cosmo would really be dead by now. Here the Collector has used a rudimentary animatronic to display the spacesuit.

Cosmo has been said to have obtained powers including extended longevity during his trip to Knowhere. Likely by being exposed to excessive space radiation after being blasted off from Earth during the Russian space program. So no he isn't dead according to the comics.

I was just telling my 9 year old son about the Collector's collection and out of nowhere he said, "Does it have a Cosmo the dog!?". Apparently he knows all about Cosmo.

Cosmo is a known character in several of the Guardian mediums, including the comics, cartoons, and movies. He was at one point even a member of the Guardians.

*Spoiler*
You can tell your son to be on the look out for Cosmo in other parts of the attraction too. He might just see him if he looks carefully. ;)

I really wanted a Howard the duck audionimatronic. Maybe they can find another old America sings bird that they can Reskin and use.

How do you know he isn't there?

I'm not saying he is because I don't know. But since none of us have ridden it and those that have are sworn to secrecy we'll just have to wait and see.

Plus even if he isn't, they can always add him later. The Collector's gallery of artifacts is suppose to be always changing. So they can always add him or any other character at a later date. It keeps things fresh....

cosmo is big in the comics, he's an adorable fellow with monstrous psionic powers (on par with the comic Jean Grey I think, not to be confused with the phoenix jean grey). Plus he appears in many other comic characters books (like Nova and Thor between others)

He is usually the "manager" of the Guardians and the subsequent Annihilators. Giving the squad missions and helping them with his teleporting device in Knowhere.

Funfact, In the comics. Cosmo is the boss and security top dog (pun intended) of Knowhwere. Usually gets free reign in Knowhere by the "council".

He's in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and is one of the Collector's "artifacts". He escapes when the purple infinity stone thing blows the joint to smithereens.

I've seen both movies, but honestly they're pretty forgettable. At least to me.

You know, when you start to describe these movies out loud, they start to sound REALLY stupid.

No matter how stupid some of these movies sound, everyone will still see them because Marvels name is slapped on it.

Screen Junkies actually nailed it in the Guardians Honest Trailer

Don't get me wrong, I love them and enjoy them immensely. It's just when you start describing it with little context, it sounds REAL dumb.

From said video...

"We're really reaching here, this was really a fun movie."

IOW, they liked it and thought it was so good, that they had trouble finding substantial faults to mock.

So, thanks for posting a video that so highly praises GotG!

I remember Cosmo from the first movie, but had no idea what he was or what his name was.

My 9 year old tries to school me on comics. He's gone on and on about the Infinity Stones and their origins. But they're still just shiny, pretty things to me.

Last night he made me read a comic about how Groot and Rocket met. It was actually really cute.

I had never heard of Cosmo the Dog until today. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is Cosmo really supposed to be Laika? I'm old enough to remember when Laika was still famous and talked about, the first dog the Soviets shot into space in the late 1950's. Or is Cosmo's name really Cosmo and he's just supposed to be a similar dog to Laika that the Soviets shot into space?

Now that I Googled dear Laika, Cosmo looks very different from him. Laika was a much smaller breed than Cosmo. A stray they picked up off the streets of Moscow. Crazy Russians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika

@Curious Constance you should study up on Laika and then school your son back at the dinner table tonight.
