I like that they're giving the comic nerds something to oogle over. I like the movies, but can't stand comics, so I probably won't recognize most of the items. But, If you're going to take on the world of superheroes, you might as well do it right and honor the origins.
You're honestly not missing that much. The cinematic universe changed a LOT Of what was considered canon for Marvel.
And give Disney an excuse to make new series or alternate timeline for their comics.

So now you have the cinematic universe, the standard universe, the ultimate universe and some more.
Hell, there is even 2 completely separate series of guardians of the galaxy with completely different styles.
The cinematic one seems more tied to the movies, and then theres the cartoon cinematic version. Which is an extended one based on the TV cartoon.

Even the second movie (which I seen today). Deviated enormously on the origins of Peter Quil.

PS the second movie was fantastic... but stay tied to the room... Because they got a new record in after credits scenes.. with 4 total. including 2 that will tie for the future franchises and movies.

That's one way to spin a flippant remark to a dumb comment.

How would you like to be a top Disney imagineer and have someone tell you they're nervous about hearing pop music? If it were me,I'd say, "What the hell is wrong with you that hearing pop music is something that makes you nervous? Aren't you nervous about, you know, the multiple free falls?"

But not wanting to be seen as being open hostile to a dumb question, one might say, "That should be the least of your worries."

Doesn't that make more sense then Joe publicly dissing his boss's livelihood that he himself worked on?

Here's what I think and call me crazy. I think it has a double meaning. The first is along the lines of what you said. "The music should be the least of your worries... we have a lot of surprises in store for you kind of thing. This so he doesn't his boss off.

The second and probably real intention as he answers this LA times reporters question is ... "ya man if you think the pop songs don't work, prepare to be even more disapointed."

...or for Joe to start arguing with the guest about whether or not '70s pop music is a central part of Guardians of the Galaxy's soundtrack and marketing (it is).

It looks like the new tower has been added to the park maps. (taken from Instagram)

I can't WAIT to see the movie! We have our tickets for next Sunday.

The original comment doesn't make any sense. Why would hearing pop music on the attraction make anyone nervous? Fair enough to have reservations about re-theming the Tower or adding Marvel to the park, but, the music? Weird thing to say.

The person who made the comment is the music editor for the LA Times if that provides context. He thinks about music differently than most. We also don't know the way it was said. It could have been a joke on both ends.

But this is also not the first time Joe has taken shots at his own project. This is highly unusual for someone out of WDI.

I think it is taken out of context. He could very well be talking about other things than the ride. Maybe he knew or had a feeling there would be many upset fans and that the music was the least of his worries.
Iger and WDI have commented before about the difficult reality of doing anything in Anaheim that requires change without before worried about the big fan base being upset

Well, in that case, Joe could be referring to the critic's refined tastes in contrast to the kind of treacly music one finds on other rides, as in, "Wait, you're nervous about classic pop rock tunes in a ride? Have you heard what plays in "It's a Small World"? Guardians will be the least of your problems."

Joe is really selling GOTG hard.

Todd Martens
Told Joe Rohde I was nervous about hearing pop music in a DCA attraction (GOTG). He laughed. "That should be the least of your worries."

When you have the WDI lead on the project make multiple comments that are less than enthusiastic, you may have a problem.

If you read the comments to that tweet he expanded to say its not about GotG:

"I wouldn't worry! I took it to mean more, like, "in life." He was joking. He promised I'd love the ride."

Tell you what, we had a personal look at the new facade, and boy howdy, that thing is hideous. Really liked gotg, but wdi better be planning to theme the surrounding area with something that meshes with that streaming pile.

It can look like a six flags warehouse box and still people will ride it and will be one of the most popular rides in the park.
