That charity is called the "Bob Iger retirement fund"
More like the Disney stockholder retirement fund.

six of one, half dozen of the other.More like the Disney stockholder retirement fund.
The Marketing people at Disney Parks have lost their minds. If they're going to do this at least donate a portion of the admission to charity or something.
What is this, a PBS pledge drive?I don't know why you are complaining about the $150 cost. You get a tote bag.

It feels like they're doing "fill-in-the-blanks" upcharge events, all under Chapek's mandate. The MSEP and TOT events felt eerily similar, and this event feels similar to those, hence my "fill-in-the-blanks" quip. The Marketing people at Disney Parks have lost their minds. This also just has the strong stench of "the bloggers and popular voices in the nerd communities will all come out to this to get their up-beat, positive "exclusives" and thus re-assure wary, skeptical fans that its actually a fun attraction and they have nothing to be afraid of."It feels like they're doing "fill-in-the-blanks" upcharge events, all under Chapek's mandate. And the best part is they'll be comped. This also just has the strong stench of "the bloggers and popular voices in the nerd communities will all come out to this to get their up-beat, positive "exclusives" and thus re-assure wary, skeptical fans that its actually a fun attraction and they have nothing to be afraid of."
And why not? Disney is probably still playing a little bit of damage control on this whole operation and will need as many positive voices there to report back to the community that this is "the best attraction ever!"And the best part is they'll be comped.

I'm sure that's the reason, however I question whether the excecution of this stuff is directed by Chapek or some low level haggared over-worked special events coordinator who has a long list KPIs to meet.
And a $15 food voucher for Hollywoodland. Which I think means a hot dog and a slushy?

You can't be doing well when Cynthia Harris is being given as a standard to achieve.Chapek is not involved in the execution of the upcharge mandate. TDA and TDO respectively plan and execute the events themselves. The events that they've actually done indicate that they have zero idea how to make extra money off of fans and their creativity is lacking to a level that beggars belief.
For a start, TDA, if you're listening, crack open the archives and check out Cynthia Harriss' fabled Enchanted Evenings merchandise events from the 2000 era. Those were events, and they minted money. People actually liked going to them and they sold out. Original stage shows created for one night only events (remember Disney Divas, anyone?), enhanced ride experiences (pop-out scare actors on Snow White), food in the castle courtyard.
Just takes a little imagination, something TDA obviously lacks if Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge and these "premier" events are any indication.
That's because these premier upcharge events covered by vloggers are in large part doing the same jobs that a special on the Disney channel or article in the Disney magazine would do to promote the new park goings on.This also just has the strong stench of "the bloggers and popular voices in the nerd communities will all come out to this to get their up-beat, positive "exclusives" and thus re-assure wary, skeptical fans that its actually a fun attraction and they have nothing to be afraid of."
It costs Disney much less to do an upcharge event for vloggers then an actual tv show. Disney makes money and vloggers advertise for free. If Disney doesn't like what the vlogger is saying, the vlogger is removed any future events and maybe even the parks. That's because these premier upcharge events covered by vloggers are in large part doing the same jobs that a special on the Disney channel or article in the Disney magazine would do to promote the new park goings on.
