I'm hoping for the best and I'm sure it ll be fun. It's just hard for me to look past how they are shoehorning GOTG into A haunted hotel drop ride and what was a TOP 3 attraction for me. I can admit that at least half of the reason I loved the ride was the thrill portion and that will still be there and may be even more thrilling from what I'm reading. However, I feel that in the long term this is a net loss for the resort. Not financially but creatively. The Old Hollywood haunted hotel theme was classic and timeless. Oh well.
Well, perhaps this frees up a haunted style theme for something that could go over in Paradise Pier.

Why do those guys always look like the Comic Book Guy?

The boiler room has always been the most boring, dreary, awful part of DL's ToT. The *one* thing giving me hope about this stupid overlay was the thought of having something more exciting to experience while waiting for the elevator. Soooooo glad to hear it's the one area not getting a major overhaul.

Exactly. I'm sure Disney invited nothing but ultra comic book, sci-fi, and similar type fans to this preview for approvals.

Well, since a reporter from a newspaper got in, I'm sure you're wrong.

But, without any knowledge of who was actually invited, why would you even try to spin a fake news item like that?

Edit: Oops, I missed the author's sarcasm. Sorry.

LOL. Ad hominem.
Let me guess, you like comic books.
I've got 5 or six long boxes of Star Wars comic books if it makes you feel any better.
My point is that you are likely to get a positive response to a Marvel makeover from someone that is a fan of the Marvel comics universe...he kinda had a stack of them on the table next to him.

Are you saying the comic book fans aren't able to be hypercritical of what a content creator does with their beloved franchise?

There are as many Joe Quesada haters out there in comic fandom as there are Chapek haters in Disney fandom.

No way...a comic book guy thinks it looks great. Color me un-surprised.

True, but on the flip side as a comic book SME he's qualified to spot poor excecution. In that regard his enthusiasm should be taken as a positive thing.

Good point.

While comic book fans might like the IDEA of a Marvel theme taking over the TOT more than a non comic book fan, the actual results would likely be much more critically viewed by the fan, rather than someone who knows nothing about the franchise.

Can you imagine the hysteria that would explode in the online Disney fan community if a respected comic book journalist walked away from a press tour of the new GoTG ride and wrote an honest story about how awful he/she thought it was?

Here's the overhaul in the boiler room, brace yourself: they re scrapeing the word "service elevator" above the elevators, removing the desk with the props and changing the background music. Oh ya, instead of the cool creepy voice in the background giving us safety instructions we ll get to hear from Rocket.

Just my guess.
