You guys really know how to suck the fun and life outta somethin, eh? At some point, if you dissect something for too long, you're only going to see it as its parts and not its sum. I'd encourage you to step back and just enjoy things for what they are. The debate that's going on here is kinda ridiculous... we're talking about a Disneyland ride here, not quantum physics.

Thank you, I agree heartily.

In the real world, Mission: BREAKOUT! had a three hour line this evening when Racers was only 45 minutes and Indiana Jones was 25 minutes.

I'm sure TDA is absolutely thrilled with how this all turned out for them. The unique and very positive media coverage they got this past weekend alone was worth tens of millions of dollars in every city west of the Rockies.

Not in nearly the same way. The ToT storyline was conceptually simpler, to the extent that the film only hinted at the past history of the structure guests were now inhabiting. GotG needs to introduce a far larger narrative involving characters and ideas that are exterior to the experience of the attraction, whereas for ToT, the experience is the guest's.

The GotG storyline is simple enough. You're helping people breakout. It's part of the name of the attraction. Even the example presented here of someone confused by it did understand this much. You're pinning this criticism on a pretty shoddy cork board.

It's getting pretty ridiculous. The critics are really grasping for anything at this point. I guess it galls that the ride is a big hit.

Not to mention "pandering". I've mentioned this before, and I'll say it again: a haunted hotel is something that EVERYONE, across the globe, understands and identifies with. Hauntings are part of every culture's folklore. Even if someone from, say, Zimbabwe has no idea of who Rod Serling was, and never watched "The Twilight Zone", they could still understand and enjoy the Tower of Terror. Because of its haunted theme, it has universal appeal, and its excellent execution guarantees its relevancy.

Well that's an Ironic example. Wasn't that the whole urban legend rationale of why Haunted Mansion (or its counterparts) never appeared in either Chinese Park? Because it wasn't culturally appealing there to use ghosts?

The biggest issue still remains that GoTG Tower is purposely gaudy, ignores "California" and that Hollywood Land is even more pointless. Bring on D23.

Not to mention the whole aspect of being too scared of the material to enjoy the attraction. With GotG they now have a fun energetic attraction that appeals to both kids and adults. And even more so since its less a straight drop tower. Which will appeal more to the fear of heights and drops crowd.

I fully expect now a mention to this whole area, Marvel Land, and their futures at either D23 or Comic-Con. I mention Comic-Con because people forget that GotG was revealed at Comic-Con.

I've rethough it. If Star Lord knows the movie Mary Poppins, then surely the Collector could know the theme park Epcot and the character Figment. So in the Marvel universe, Figment is a fictional character, just like he is in ours. And so the Collector isn't displaying a real purple dragon, but an animatronic from the ride. I guess that answers your question.

So the Guardians and other Marvel characters are real, but Figment and Harold are not.

My brain hurts. After all, they're just easter eggs... I think they serve a purpose, but I agree they don't fully make sense. Nobody cared about every aspect making sense before this decade.
That is not very much in line with The Collector as a character.

This notion that detail doesn't matter is just bunk. Rohde has a multi decades long career that shows otherwise. The convoluted backstory for this specific attraction shows otherwise.

If you're wondering how he eats and breathes
And other science facts,
Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show
I should really just relax"

Now look who's reaching. The Collector as he appears in the comics along with the other Elders of the Universe has never stood up to logical sense. They just are the way they are because that's what the story needs. The brain numbing surprise twists and the ever-changing levels of power and the various versions from multiple universes, retcons, and reboots provide no logical consistency.

So, don't appeal to the integrity of the character of "The Collector" to support your nitpicking.

Sorry you don't like the Easter Eggs. Oh well.

You're there to see living things, not a cheap robot that was across the street. We're also talking about a film series that bothered to rebrand a Dairy Queen for a few seconds of establishing shot.

You want to see real living aliens in a theme park ride? Really? How many real living aliens do you have in your collection?

Theme park rides tell stories. In the world of Guardians of Galaxy, Rocket is a living character and not just digital animation.

The ride has a AA Rocket Raccoon but you're not happy with that. You want to see living things and "not a cheap robot". You should be fun when SWL opens and you complain about the fake aliens. "I want real aliens not cheap robots!"
