@mickEblu has done a great job of being passionate while inviting conversation of the topic, without shouting rhetorical questions that don't actually invite a proper back and forth in a true discussion. Kind of make sense?

For sure! I think he's a great example of someone who I sometimes disagree with, but I can usually find common ground. None of this stuff is truly important, so what reason is there to draw lines in the sand because you see things differently?

I was planning to hit up the parks this Sunday. If the weather today will be the same come Sunday, the trip will be cancelled. Sucks because I haven't been in a while.
Sunday is only a 10% chance of rain. Downside is that Sunday is generally packed and you may have folks that were rained out today and Saturday showing up...plus, Monday is a holiday for some schools so you may get some folks that are spending the weekend at the resort.

I have a whole slew of this proposed Car Land somewhere on my blog- but I'll be darned if I could find it!
(Minutes ago: See new thread. I never did add them to the blog. New project..)

Is it often that people on the west coast favor WDW over DL, or is it more of a coastal turf thing?

Just got me thinking because I was mourning for those with the west coast tower. Not to mention the west coast generally gets the short end of the stick, even with Universal. I don't think 'blessing of size' has a lot to do with it.
A bugs land? Are you serious?
Please don't be mad

Thank you and @BrianLo !! I feel the same way about you both. I try to have an open mind and keep a balanced view even though I can come across very passionate sometimes. But I promise you, I haven't lost one night of sleep yet due to the TOT overlay. Disappointed for sure but this is life. This is where us Fans can come and talk about our opinions and IMO, this is the best site that exists for good quality discussions. Between the insiders here and mostly knowledgeable and respectful members that have a wide range of opinions -makes for some interesting threads.

I live on the East Coast and prefer Disneyland over WDW, but I'm a unusual case.

Most West Coasters I know have a real pride and personal connection to 'Walt's Park' / Disneyland simply because it has been a part of their lives locally for so many years.

So it's not a 'turf thing' entirely....more a personal respect for the place and a deep appreciation of it's history.
Disneyland is just the better 'Magic Kingdom' styled U.S. Park in many people's opinion, myself included.

I grew up in Florida about a 10-minute drive from WDW. Some of my earliest and most vivid childhood memories are riding Spaceship Earth and other Epcot classics. Likewise, I had the unusual fortune in that both my parents worked on property, so it wasn't uncommon for me to be "backstage" on any given day after school. Then we moved to California and I went to DL for the first time. While I do prefer the expansiveness of WDW, I now feel the stronger sense of "loyalty" to Disneyland...but I'll gladly go back to WDW whenever possible.

When it really comes down to it though, I will always and forever hold onto late 80's and early 90's Epcot as the pinnacle of my Disney park experience.

I assume this whole ignore discussion is revolving around hmf? Yeah, I love the ignore feature too :)

I haven't put hmf on ignore. I'm pretty amused actually.

Unless someone in blatantly trolling or disrespectful, the ignore feature to me seems like a cop out. "I can't handle seeing posts from people who don't think exactly like I do."

I don't "ignore" people I disagree with. I ignore people who are way over the line Disney crazies. Particularly when they're unpleasant. Why would I waste my time on them when it's a subject that's supposed to be fun. There are plenty of people who I disagree with who aren't nutso. Thank the gods I can avoid the irrational easily enough.

It's an interesting question and I think one we here in uber fandom don't really have a grasp on. I'm also from the East and only traversed very recently. Quite honestly the East coasters generally lack an awareness of the existence of Disneyland. To them that means the Magic Kingdom in WDW. There simply is nothing in the way of advertising. Since we're in Canada, there was no point promoting Disneyland for us in the North East, you wouldn't vacation there. Whereas many people snow bird and are intimately familiar with Florida.

I was looking at some comments at IGN (a video game website) about the GoTG tower conversion. Apart from the comments actually generally being lukewarm-positive compared to what we see on any given Disney site, there were a lot of confused posters not even aware they were talking about California or that there even was a Californian Park.

Even a decade ago I only vaguely knew there was a park in California. I actually knew more about DCA because there were commercials for it at the start of some of their late 90's VHS's. I want to say Dinosaur/The Emperor's New Groove. Maybe Mulan/Tarzan.

That's way different here in Calgary though. To this population Disney means California. They snow bird down to Arizona or Cali.

That said, WDW is simply more of a vacationers target, Disneyland still is somewhat focused on locals. As someone who 'grew up' with WDW, the potential is just leaps and bounds there for Florida. DLR on the other hand is leaps and bounds currently more well taken care of. If this conversation was the 90's/2000's yes California gets the short end of the stick. This decade though the tides have hugely reversed. One overlay, even if it ends up being horrific, doesn't change that.

A 10% chance sounds a lot better than what I'm seeing now. Though I don't like being at the parks even when it's drizzling. It's a mood-killer for me.

Completely forgot about the holiday. Probably best to just stay away.

All of my fellow Disneyland pals that have visited both resorts prefer Disneyland, mainly because of its history and connection to Walt Disney. Also going to Disneyland for Californians is tradition. It's just something you do as a kid, almost like a rite of passage. Some of them don't like the extra walking in Florida either.

Both WDW and the DLR get the short end of the stick, in a greater sense, but apparently, based on what I've been told from others here, it is WDW that gets the short end of the stick. In regards to Universal Hollywood, it's a movie studio first, theme park second. It's a completely different offering in comparison to the other parks.

A bug's land has been in existence for 15 years. I think we've gotten used to it by now. Lol.

I was chatting with a midwesterner on my team who is a recent California transplant and has never been Disneyland. She was shocked (no exaggeration) that Disneyland opened before WDW. She even tried to debate me, so I reminded her that Walt Disney was a Hollywood filmmaker, and built his first theme park in Orange County not far from his movie studio. The look on her face as the dots were connecting in her brain was priceless.

Yet another reminder that the average person pays little attention to the nitty gritty details of Disney theme park trivia.

When she tried to debate with you, did you take the opportunity to use the phrase, "Do you have any idea who you're dealing with lady!? Does the name Dr Hans Reinhardt mean anything to you !?"
