Will be interesting after this has stood complete for a few years and one pines for the old look only to pull up a picture and think, "oh... right."
Or to those who boast to their youngest ones who maybe never saw "bad tower" in its glory- show them a picture and hear them say, "what a weird looking... hotel?"
I agree about sight-line issues, but I never liked seeing that poor design loom so large anyway. This was mediocre tower. This was cheap and fast tower. Despite the Rod Serling narration and far fewer iconic images than its Florida counterpart, this had nothing to do with the spirit of the show.
Tower's getting some love- the old girl is trading her goth boyfriend in for a cyber-punk one. Why not at least meet him before banishing her from your Christmas card list.

As one of the more vocal people here against the GOTG overlay, I should probably mention that I will continue to ride the ride formerly known as TOT and will probably do so on almost every visit. It will obviously still be one of the most fun attractions at the resort based off just the ride system alone. However, that does not mean that the experience as a whole won't be a downgrade. That does not mean that this overlay makes any sense. And that does not mean that the new building is not butt ugly.

That's a great stance to have!

I'm planning to give this a shot (unlike SWL), but I'm still against its placement and theme.

I do hope you'll come around to at least seeing it to help inform your opinion, even if it's to support a negative one. Not just on the East Coast.

Probably never going to happen. Every time I happen to think about it I just get angry. There's just no interest. As I said, the only way I'd step foot in the area is if I'm with my kid nephews and they want to go. Other than that, I'll continue to enjoy the other parts of the park when it opens and leave it to those with interest. :)

To bring in a boy demographic that's not based on pirates to rival the girl demographic based on princesses?

Disney is a multi-media company. It actually started with movies before the theme park.
There was also a time when Disney Movies were meant for everybody instead of just aiming for specific demographics.

They still make money from Uni, Fox, Paramount at the time and Sony among others. It was a no brainier at 4 billion.
Sure, but Disney used to excel at creating it's own product and making their own money not leech off of other studios.
