Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind SPOILER Thread

My original thought was that Bradly Cooper hadn't recorded his lines yet for GotG:3 and maybe they would just have him record the lines then and come back and change Cosmic Rewind at a later date... but I assume he recorded lines for Love and Thunder within the last year and, as such, there should be no reason they couldn't have had him record lines for Cosmic Rewind then... so yeah...
There's internet reports that he no longer wants to do the voice and wanted extra $ to do it for the ride to the tune of a ridiculous amount. I have no idea about the validity of this, but it could be an explanation? I do think however that they could have found somebody who sounded a bit more like him.

That's a wild take. The only coasters at WDW that aren't better themed than Velocicoaster are the Barnstormer and maybe TRON when it opens. Slinky Dog is roughly the same level of theming.

Even Hagrid's is less themed than the majority of Disney coasters IMO, although it's pretty well done for an outdoors coaster.
The theming take was mostly for Hagrid's, but Velocicoaster is definitely better themed than at least Barnstormer, Tron, Slinky, RnRc, and maybe even Space and CR, since their theming is mostly projections on flat surfaces, and CR has a large unappealing showbuilding that's very visible inside the park. The queue and rockwork help VC a great deal, along with the layout itself being placed in a way that makes it look visually striking from where it can be seen in the park.

Hagrid's only weak point is it's non-diegetic track, which is already low to the ground and painted brown to not visually spoil it's surrounding area. Everything else is themed incredibly well, and is maybe bested by only Everest and BTMRR, both of which still have significantly less effects (working at least,) and don't offer as fun of an experience with a complete story.

I just saw the full ride through on YouTube -
The building, beautiful.
The queue, beautiful.
The preshow, beautiful.
The actual ride, looks meh.

I am assuming its better it person. Looking forward to trying it.

Anyone keeping track of celebrities featured in the most theme park attractions? Pratt has to be in the running.

But as for still living people:

Pete Renoudet
- Henry in Country Bears
- Max in Country Bears
- the Narrator at Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Safety spiel at Astro Orbiter
- Narrator on the Mark Twain Riverboat at Disneyland

Formers:
- the Huntsman in Snow Whites Scary Adventure
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority (1994-2006)
- Mission to Mars
- Rocket to the Moon
- 20,000 Leagues (Captain Nemo)

He also briefly voiced Mickey for some merchandise before Wayne Allwine officially took the role.

I see both points on Universal. I think my take is that Universal is proving (in their most recent attractions) to be better creating the APPROPRIATE level of theme. Disney seems to be both over and under theming attractions in some ways - let alone the spend. And, that makes the shoehorning even more obvious. Disney is a victim of their own success, I guess. But, it seems Universal understands their brand, offering and audience a bit more that Disney does when it comes to the parks. That's why these coasters "feel" more successful even though @UNCgolf raises some very valid points.

Yes a YT video is not the place to judge a physical rollercoaster experience in the dark.

Yeah. Video doesn't capture screen based attractions well to begin with and on top of that a main selling point here seems to be how engulfing the screens are around you and I don't think that a camera pointed one direction would demonstrate that.

You also don't get the impact of the vehicles turning with a video.

I suppose it's really two separate conversations -- one about the on-ride theming, and one about theming for the surrounding area.

I think CR easily beats Velocicoaster for on-ride theming, and it's more or less a wash for the surrounding area that probably comes down to personal preference. As much as I hate the CR box, I still find it less... distracting, I guess, than a roller coaster with riders out in the open overhead. So I prefer the CR box to the Velocicoaster track, which really detracts from the whole JP area to me, but I understand that the Velocicoaster track works well for some people in that area. Regardless, that obviously doesn't mean it's an objectively better attraction than Velocicoaster -- that depends on a variety of personal opinions, and I'm positive Velocicoaster has more sheer physical thrill -- but it's a better attraction for me personally.

Hagrid's is definitely a separate conversation and I was more dismissive than I should have been because I was mainly thinking about Velocicoaster. It's more like 7DMT, EE, and BTMR where even your surroundings are themed (CR does this too, but with screens instead of physical sets, which are generally less interesting/transportive). I think the biggest issue is one that's shared by 7DMT (overall ride quality aside), wherein the main show scenes happen when you slow down significantly or come to a complete stop and there's not too much going on during the actual coaster portions. That's something CR avoids through the use of screens, for better or worse. Hagrid's also doesn't really have any issue with the surrounding area because it's almost completely hidden from view from the rest of the park.

Hagrid’s is still going to be the best coaster in Orlando for at least the next 3 years.
The castle structure and how the Hagrid trains ride through it are amazing. IMO the AA's aren't the best done, but it also doesn't take away from the attraction. It's a fantastic ride! With that said. Unique? Not sure. Just rode Chetah Hunt in Busch Gardens. This is more of a comparable ride, than CR is. I couldn't tell you which ride is better. Same Thing with the JP Coaster. There are comparable coaster experiences out there.

Cosmic Rewind is a unique amazing experience only at Epcot. Hagrids and the Jurrassic Coaster are amazing, but unique??? Not so sure.

Not to mention CR could be more approachable for families. Personally I think CR is more comparable to "The Forbidden Journey, just on a coaster track.

I think CR will give Hagrids a run for its money in regards to popularity.

Is CR unique? It's basically if Gringotts and Space Mountain had a baby.
