Man, I really seem to be in the minority on this one-but I found the Transformers ride to be hilariously awful. (Like-I was actually laughing at it.) Nothing but screens as far as the eye can see, and an unrelenting barrage of noise being thrown at you at all times, much like the source material. And it's all packed into one of the lowest-effort queues I've ever been through-switchbacks and concrete. The screens weren't even integrated well into the sets for my liking, and never once was my brain like "Yes, I'm in a real place right now. I hope Hugo Weaving saves the day."

I even read reviews of the ride online, and was shocked that people loved it, and were only too happy to wait in long opening-day lines multiple times.

For me, Transformers is the Spider-Man ride, done worse, and painted a slightly different shade of blue.

Again, I realize this is an unpopular opinion. I'm not bashing you, or anyone that enjoys this attraction. It's just not for me, or anyone I rode with for that matter.
Hear, hear.

To each their own. I adore Spiderman, but Transformers just feels like a completely redundant ADHD clone.

I do realize that I'm not the audience for metal war machines and explosions, so no lost love, either direction.

It's overrated IMHO.

I ride it everytime. It's fun. I liked the first Transformers movie, the rest leave a lot to be desired but different strokes for different folks. But it copies Spider-Man, and it's not as good. But it seems Universal can do no wrong ;) Let's bash Disney for copying ride systems but let's kudos Universal for doing the same.

I did find the first one to be an enjoyable summer popcorn movie, I really liked it. Everything after that was...well, you know, loud.

I have to say-whenever I express a contrary opinion on here, I expect to get blasted, and berated for having such audacity. But never once has it actually happened.

You people are okay.

Yeah, no one really blasts anyone for having a difference of opinion. We all have our own personal tastes. I don't hate Transformers, the ride system works well for it, but I just prefer Spider-Man. Transformers is too rough and while it's "kewl" it's also a bit shallow. IMHO. But to each their own, nothing wrong if you love it. It's a good ride. It just doesn't rank up there for me. I'd rate Kong above it and I know how dissed Kong can be. Kong's not at all perfect but I like the idea of it. I also prefer Gringotts to Forbidden Journey (though some think preferring one over the other means you think FJ sucks, which I don't). Such is life. lol

We do pretty well around here with respecting others opinions. The other board I'm active in Universally shuts down snide remarks, jokes, and counter arguments pretty quickly and leads to bland conversation at times. Sometimes banter is needed to come to a fruitful compromise.

Unless I have a scoop or a bit of inside info I tend to not post as much these days. Mainly because @Kman101 literally, always says what I would want to say before I get to post! He's kind of my "Spirit Poster" 👻

No, I don't think you're alone in that opinion. Spider-man does a much better job of integrating physical sets with the screens. I find Transformers to be Body Wars and Spider-Man to be Star Tours. Same basic attraction, but one is executed much better than the other.

No ones said that.

Remember Transformers shouldn’t have come to Orlando. But we got another E out of it. One of the reasons it wasn’t originally coming was the similarity to the ride in the other park.

I still can't figure out why someone would design a two-story dark ride with multiple elevators and not incorporate it into a drop element. As a design choice it's just baffling.

I gave Transformers a pass because it was sort of a bonus attraction. It didn't replace anything of importance, it was built very fast and it came to a park that was already getting a major new addition with Diagon Alley.

Wow, I step away from this thread for a week and come back to a conversation that has moved to Universal. Anyway, I was wondering if the GoTU ride is going to use projection similar to the Pirates ride in Shanghai? The integration of AAs and screens in that ride look amazing and very top shelf. If this ride uses that type of screen integration plus the addition of AA's and a little nod to education about energy, we might just have something that pleases everyone!

What is the story on how it came then? Or can you point me to where I can find the info if you don't feel like explaining?

Soarin 2.0 (as a way to dismiss Flight of Passage) springs to mind

Two coasters next to each other in Tomorrowland

Just some examples.

And true that it shouldn't have come to Orlando. I'm not mad it did, it's fun for what it is. But it's redundant. I just think it's overall interesting what's accepted and what isn't.

It was designed as California’s version of Spider-Man. Much like Tron was Shanghai’s version of Space Mountain. It wasn’t meant to exist in the same area as the other.

Comcast had a tax issue. Either they put the money into something in the park - and fast - or that money would be an almost nine figure tax payment. So they chose the former. It was so rushed that the morning team members were told about it (just before the press release) Stage 44 was due to begin to be transformed for an all year "haunt". It took those involved in that completely by surprise. USO got another E ticket that they weren’t meant to get.

In a nutshell.

Wow. Well as similar as it might be, always grateful for another attraction even if it isn't necessarily "needed." Thanks for the info!

Because that wasn’t the intention?

Same with Alcatraz.

Besides, it wasn’t "multiple" - it’s two pairs purely to increase capacity and length of ride. The "design choice" was to hide the fact there’s even an elevator unless you know where to look.
