Right. That's the answer. IP may bring some to the attraction, but I think The Mouse is more concerned with "the other way around:" attractions with IPs generating more intere$t in IPs...

because they can get away with the frozen overlay.....IPs that are popular can be....underwelming rides and still succeed an original attraction needs to be good or it will receive bad criticism that some IPs may be immune too because who cares its frozen! etc

I don't understand how anyone can see what Harry Potter did for Universal and still hold the opinion that IP doesn't matter at all. It depends on the IP!

Harry Potter had amazing rides. If the rides were trash the Harry Potter IP wouldn't have mattered after the first year of being open.

Besides the fact that there are plenty of people who visit those areas and take part in the Potter experience that don't ride the rides the overarching point is this. You take two lands, one themed after a world famous insanely popular IP such as Harry Potter and another as generic Wizard World, Harry Potter is going to draw the most interest all else being equal. It's why Disney is building a Star Wars area now when they had free reign to make a Space Samurai world since forever.

The rides aren't the main draw. It's the level of detail, the immersion in the world that most people I know talk about in regards to HP...

it has both....two rides that opened the doors for universal with intricacy as well as a massive immersive experience. Hp proved to me that universal can build things better than Disney if they want too.

I agree to a point but I also think they understand what filler is. not everything you build should be an E ticket or (advertising as such) you need stuff to flesh out the parks. they needed a counter balance to the potter stuff. granted kongs que is great reminds me of little mermaid...amazing que and than oh.
