The main issue with the TCM spiel was that it was out of place.
I have no memory of the LwtL with a tour guide, but apparently, the tour guide was replaced with a narration.
When the TCM narration was pumped into the GMR it made no sense because the tour guide remained. The narration was completely redundant because you had a cast member that was more than capable of giving a spiel.

Thematics aside (of course), I could see people putting Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro, and maybe Everest above The Great Movie Ride. I wouldn't do that myself, but accounting for different tastes. It's fair to say FOP and the Safari are high-level experiences, and clearly Everest scores high with man, despite its glaring show quality issues.
EPCOT is harder. One could argue Spaceship Earth over The Great Movie Ride, though *I'd* probably give the final version of GMR the edge over the current version of SSE. And then what are your options, Soarin'? Test Track? Frozen??
If only they'd given The Great Movie Ride a Spaceship Earth-style refurb. That kind of refresh/makeover could have worked WONDERS. Then put Runaway Railway in the old Animation Tour building with the setup that you're getting a sneak peek at the dailies of the latest Mickey Cartoon, and then . . . *BOOM*.

I wasn't talking about my personal list (although I was for DHS, so I can see why it would be confusing). I was talking about in the minds of the general public. I think I'd only rank Kiliminjaro Safari over the Great Movie Ride at AK, and I personally like Na'vi River Journey more than Expedition Everest, but I could see the general public preferring Kiliminjaro Safari, Flight of Passage, and Expedition Everest.
With EPCOT I was thinking more about the future when Rat and Guardians are open. I definitely wouldn't rank Rat over GMR, but I could see the majority of Disney guests liking it more.

I don't think there's any problem with someone thinking Kiliminjaro is better than GMR. I think people could conceivably see Kiliminjaro as the best attraction at WDW period (I'm not making that argument).
However, I also don't think it's really comparable to any other attraction at any Disney park worldwide; it's a fundamentally different thing. The closest possible comparison is the old Sea Cabs at the Living Seas, but I'd argue they were still fundamentally different. It's not really fair to either Kiliminjaro itself or to other attractions to compare them.

The news is... building is enclosed, can't see anything.. waiting for the outside of building to be themed... Once that is done we wait for a year or two and maybe it opens?

Oh like I said, *I* wouldn't do it.
To me The Great Movie Ride was one of the best things ever on property. I'd take one ride on GMR over a dozen rides on Flight of Passage. It was the heart, the keystone, the mission statement of its park, and that's not easily replaceable.
As they've sadly proven.

It’s so rare that someone sticks up for World of Motion. It doesn’t seem nearly as missed as the rest of them.

I think it's that Test Track is more highly regarded than most of the other replacements (MMRR excluded, but that's much newer), plus WoM has been gone the longest. Only three years longer than Horizons, but three years is still a significant period of time.
There are some people that love Misson: Space, but it usually has much shorter wait times than Test Track and doesn't seem like it's ever really busy.

"Ya'll ready to go back in time to SAVE THE UNIVERSE!.. 3...2....1... BANG!" (Cue launch of coaster and LOUD ROCK MUSIC)
Then at the end of the ride:
"Wow thanks for helping us rockers!, and remember the Universe is full of energy!"
Then you'll see some happy statement about how they have "paid homage" to the original ride by incorporating the 'winky winky' universe of Energy thing.

Agreed, in the last 5 years or so, I was done with GMR and Ellen's Energy Adventure. Both needed updates. We all know that GMR should have been updated w/Mickey and Minnie's built elsewhere.
