EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

If we can see the Test Track building like we can from this location, I don't really get why a decent looking GotD building is going to ruin anything.
I agree, I’m not sure why that seems to get a pass (I suppose just because it’s original EPCOT Center which means it must have been good design!). I always thought it looked awkward seeing the giant tuna can from across the lagoon.

Spaceship Earth has been refreshed several times and still feels super old-fashioned. I'm glad this is the case, because I personally love the '80s vibe of the attraction, but such rides are, by nature, of a different era. Some become classics and survive, and others lose popularity to the extent that Disney is prepared to scrap them. Ellen's Energy Adventure was a brave attempt to drastically update a ponderous attraction, but it never felt modern to me (even when I first went on it in 1996).

Because if you feel the ellen overlay was a 'brave attempt' - your standards are a train wreck

You are pointing to facts, but completely off on the interpretations

This doesn't bother me in the slightest. The looming Swolphin ruining the forced perspective of the Eiffel Tower is an issue. Soarin's blue box looming over the Canadian Rockies is an issue. A blocky futuristic building behind another futuristic building gets a big shrug from me.

My point was only that its not just going to be another 'go away' showbuilding. Its going to have to become a high profile feature. Styled and proud

No he’s not. He likes the attractions for different reasons you do. Are we not allowed to have different opinions? Odd that you acknowledge facts and then qualify them to discredit.

I highly doubt they're just going to leave this as an unthemed blank box, especially since it's visible from the parking lot. This is Disney we're talking about, not Cedar Point or Six Flags. Although I can't deny they've made a lot of very questionable decisions lately (including the idea to shove GotG into Epcot in the first place), I doubt they would stoop that low. I'd like to see construction go further before I make an opinion on their quality of work, though.

The subject is not really a matter of opinion - but one rooted in design and proven with history.

If you are looking for a safe place where "all opinons are equal" - you wont get that from me. Nor is "its just my opinon" a blanket excuse for simply being wrong

Is this over describing the Ellen Energy makeover as “brave”? If you want to criticize the opinion, better to offer an actual rebuttal.

May I ask what I was wrong about exactly? I said that certain rides that are here much missed had declined in popularity by the end of their lifespans. This is a simple statement of fact. I then expressed my own (necessarily subjective) opinion on why this shift occurred. As far as my own opinions are concerned, I have never claimed to be right.

You really need a written explaination of how 1991 network TV visuals and comedy trying to play off as current comes across as dated and stale 25 years later??

Or how failing to refresh or simply keep operating loses appeal to the general audience after 35 years?

The 'insert our corporate synergy personalities to our attractions' has proven itself over and over to date attractions and ensure they have a finite lifespan. The content must be refeshed to not look out of place. Epcot's mid nineties reworka are some of the worst in the company's history.

The opinion that 'people have moved on' is a self serving one that is obtuse to WHY people stopped coming in volumes.

Same thing with horizons... and if you tried to open a pavilion with 1980s video quality and stage effects today.

The sun also set yesterday... that doesnt support an opinion that the end is near...

Facts used wrong are still wrong.

Ellen was described as brave when it was built, not 25 years later. Offer a rebuttal that directly questions the assertion.

I’ll let LB address the rest if he wishes.

Thanks, Daniel. I don't come to these forums to be subjected to unwarranted anger (Disney is my happy place), so I think I'd best leave it as far as this particular poster is concerned.

People know celebrities and live video content do not age as well as original unique content. Yet they went the lazy "throw in the tv celeb" angle and then still didnt update it for over 20 years.

The only suprise in the while thing is how far disney rode it into the ground. Pleas offer anything "brave" about ripping out a one of a kind art piece, and adding network tv content from your corporate siblings?

So, we now that the coaster itself is in it's own structure......What is the rest of that building going to be...One heck of a queue?

I mean with this being a Pre-show area....This just can't be it...There's gotta be more considering the size of the UoE Pavillion...

And I'm pretty sure that the exit area will probably be an gift shop once finished...

Queue, queue, preshows, queue, load and unload. Aside from the original preshow room location the rest of the pavilion will be unrecognisable.

I know.
