If they are continuing to grow without additions, why bother to make them?
Because at some point stagnation will catch them, and force them to have a huge build process and expenditure as they are having now. Think how much more easier the costs of some of these would be to take if they were further spread out and not all within 5 to 10 years.

And also it is 100% necessary to keep adding or at least replacing. From 1987 to 2008 there were constant changes and additions (albeit less so from the DLP disaster and 9/11). From 2012 to today we are seeing a renaissance at WDW with over 12 new attractions from 2012 - 2021 planned or completed. That meets the one new thing a year mark. It is this expansion that is growing the parks. It is because of a better experience. The food for example is leagues better than it was in years before (mostly because of new diversity and health conscious and "sustainable" items).

I see the head against wall emoji but you can't stagnate (for me I'm not talking about change in a "let's demo Horizons and blame a sinkhole because we're too cheap to update the attraction" change). Let's keep going to DHS and watching Voyage of the Little Mermaid for another two decades. Yay! The parks must be relics!!

It's too bad the change they've done hasn't always been for the better or there'd likely be less hesitation when that dreaded "change" word comes up. We all love what's comfortable but remember when we liked being made uncomfortable and how we enjoyed new things too? (Again, I'm not saying "change just to change" like some throw out, so some of us are probably using it differently).

But by then there will probably be new top executives so it will be their problem.

Exactly. It's why we're where we are today and will likely be where we are years from now. It's a horrible cycle they've fallen into and they seem to refuse to break from it. I can't blame them on one hand, many of us still throw money at them no matter what they add or what they take away so they can continue to get away with it. It's smart for them (though, not really), awful for us.

I agree, stagnation is not good. But 10 years of stagnation is what got WDW to where it is, Pandora aside. The head against the wall emoji was more about the general message of that post, that we're in some "renaissance at WDW". And I must have missed all the "constant changes and additions" after Everest and before NFL, or even before Pandora. Don't give me Frozen Ever After, or an updated Star Tours or the terrible new Soarin' CGI experience. Those added zero to the parks. (Edit - Yeah, they added two theaters to Soarin', and a new track for TSM, proving only that they under-built them to begin with)

I feel a post coming, about Disney and nostalgia and the future...

I did say I don't like change just for the sake of change, unless it's a 20+ year old stage show (or two). And I agree stagnation got them where they are today. I agree the changes they've made in a lot of places has NOT been good. (Also agreed they underbuilt Soarin and Mania, but to be fair, they shouldn't be getting the waits they do either because the parks need more to do, not saying they aren't popular, I can't stand Mania though, and wouldn't get longer lines anyway, but they probably wouldn't have needed the third track or theater if the parks were properly built out, but then maybe they would, either way they should have known better)

Does anyone have a @MisterPenguin style list of what's been proposed for Universal, etc.? I do a horrible job keeping up. Or if anyone can direct me to a good source where rumors are regularly posted ...

I'm feeling out of the loop and confused on the last few posts regarding Universal ... lol

I'd visit Inside Universal forums for the most up to date stuff....big stuff is coming just postponed unfortunately
