How to trigger Epcot fans with a single tweet: https://twitter.com/WDWToday/status/913886112195792898
It's quite fun reading everyones reaction. Did GotG in DL get this much negative reaction on social media? I'm just trying to set a reference point.

GotGMB in DCA was worse. In addition to the theming not fitting the land complaint, there was also the issue of losing a beloved IP for the ride.

In Epcot, there's the same not-fitting-the-land complaint. But, there's very few mourning the loss of the Ellen story.

Mission Breakout does not even make an effort to fit the theme of the park. That's what's bad about it. The ride itself is highly-rated, but the park as a whole is weaker.

Same may be true for Energy.

That's because eventually the nearby theming was going to change to incorporate MB.

Will that area have anything to do with the golden state? I don't think so. That makes it even worse.

They could've at least chosen to go the Cars Land route (haha, bad pun!), but instead, the story is simply that this Marvel stuff dropped itself in DCA. Kaboom! It's the same kind of lame excuse as Peter Quill visited Epcot when he was a child.

Yeah. Ellen opened in 1995....and was already stale once we hit the year 2000.

Most of the actors live in California so it's a good fit.

With Soarin' over California becoming Soarin' Around the Word, and the pier being re-themed to Pixar, and something being taken over by a presumed Marvel Land... how much longer will the park retain the name "California Adventure"?

While it's a stupid change, the pier is still a pier. Much like Cars Land is route 66. People suspect that they'll change the Soarin' film back one day. Marvel land hasn't happened yet. My point is, the park still has a loose California theme all around, and retaining a loose theme is better than just throwing in the towel.

But in the case of the latter, there can't possibly be a more fitting name than California Adventure. What would they rename it? Six Flags Over Texas never changed it's name. Now Texas is simply the location of the park, not the theme. DCA looks to be going down the same hole. It's becoming a high-quality amusement park.

The only way I see it changing again is if some CEO wants to place his own name on the dedication plaque, like Iger did with DCA, and I can imagine he might have the audacity to do with DHS.

Lol. Forget about one visit to Epcot Center as a child... Peter Quill lives in California!!

In Guardians of the Galaxy, The Collector describes the way the Stones were formed as a "singularity." Singularity makes me think black hole which makes me think gravity and dark matter and all sorts of other fun space stuff to theme a soft educational ride around. There's a ton of potential here.

you don't really believe there so be anything educational on purpose right?
