I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that AE closed the day after Jeffery Jones was arrested.
No, it dragged on for about a year and generated a lot of bad publicity for Disney. Jeffery Jones was under investigation for over a year before he was arrested in November, 2002. He ended up pleading no contest to felony charges in October, 2003. AE closed October 12, 2003.

Chairman L.C. Clench changing into a monster was far too close to reality.

Yes you are. Renovate and update EPCOT = good

Destroying the basic / core theme of EPCOT to shoehorn in more unrelated IP = lazy and NOT good

Funny a park designed originally to make guests dream about the impossible future and how it is possible now only makes me wish it was 1986
Not to open another can of worms.....
but how is living with Aliens and interacting with aliens and having those of us with superpowers not a dream about the impossible future?

is that not what fantasy, and science fiction really anyway?

Again, I am not trying to pull the band aid off, I get why folks feel this does not fit EPCOT, and I actually agree. But make sure WHY it does not fit makes sense, not just throw darts.

I for one can see, how a futuristic world where we have constant interaction with other alien races a fun idea, its not the original plan for EPCOT but if done well, it could expand what EPCOT was.

Who/what tf is this Serpico you keep referencing. You seem to be the only member that references it

As was discussed earlier, Serpico is not Gandalf but does have interesting things to say about LOTR.
Let's just say, for S&G, that I receive a call now and then from an individual and the topic of discussion is WDW. I have no reason to trust the information other than the partial fact that some of what I have been told has been confirmed in one way or another by the insiders we have here at WDWMagic. Now, that does not mean I still treat what I hear as Gospel, hence my hesitation to even mention the potential MK projects. So, one could argue Serpico is a voice in my head or a legit insider. I will say that the information is usually very vague and I try to piece it together with other things I hear. I know this is a far departure from my normal schtick, but I thought I would share the info provided until told to stop or it proves unreliable.

doesn't really expand what EPCOT was at all...EPCOT was about dreaming the impossible and making them happen...it was optimistic and empowering... A known Science Fiction brand and story really doesnt add anything to the narrative, but adds a completely different focus... One about just telling a new story that has nothing to do with OUR story... which was the core of EPCOT...OUR visions, OUR dreams for tomorrow and how to make the world a better place... not just a random Science Fiction comic book... That is like arguing that Laugh Floor Comedy Club really fits into Tomorrowland.... it literally add nothing to the thematic narrative...

@WDW1974 @MansionButler84 Do you guys know if any of this Epcot business is on the agenda for the BoD meeting coming up in FL? If so, will this meeting determine budget/approval of certain aspects of the project?
Guardians at Energy is already green lit and budgeted (generously). I'm sure they will discuss other projects or they wouldn't force Board members to endure summer in FL. Surely they'd rather meet in November in the swamps!

The core theme of Epcot has been dead since the 90s. Let it go.
