You would then have two anchor points to the land on one side you have the sci-fi fantasy pop culture view of space exploration (Guardians) and the updated Mission Space with new ride film represents the real world view of space exploration.
I feel we should just focus on real space exploration.

I have actually seen BOD presentations (not at Disney) where the end of the presentation was still being worked on while the beginning was being presented!

Sure. How about the huge roll out for Hyperion Wharf ! Whoops....

I think what @marni1971 is talking about is the GMR overhaul to a Mickey theme because of the 2019 copyright expiration. However; they did file a permit for work inside the ride earlier this week. So perhaps they're moving ahead with something else for GMR? Maybe not Mickey themed but maybe all Disney movies? Anyway that's for a different topic but thought I'd just throw that out there.

I was doing some thinking and assuming this guardians rumor is true (doubt it) they could turn that whole chunk of Epcot from Universe of Energy to Mission:Space into a giant Space Exploration Pavillion/land which would at least be thematically appropriate to Epcot. But instead the'll probably just make it into Guardians of the Galaxy land.

You doubt GotG is coming, but, you'll spend your time surmising that it will become it's own mini-land?

Mickey was always supposed to open sometime in 2019

Mickey Mouse copyright expires in 2023. I'm sure Disney is preparing on lobbying congress to change copyright laws and extend it. Mickey is too Important financially

IN MARTIN WE TRUST.

I could see this as:
  • A t-shirt
  • On a coin
  • A slightly modified bumper sticker - "Don't blame me, I voted for Martin"

I'm proud to say (or stupid) I've only ever used it once in 19 years. And I ended up turning it off :)

And no, it wasn't jt.

Had to be Thrawn.

Nothing as exotic.

I wonder if there was an exclusivity on Tron that may make that one a problem?

Tron and an exclusivity clause is exactly where my head went as well. Hope not. One of my favorite franchises.

Yes. I'm a nerd.

There's a blast from the past! Oddly it wasn't. Was someone who only posts once a year now. We kind of made our peace. But you know me. Life's too short. I'm on my second already at least but that's another story. There's only one psychotic hosebeast ex of mine whom I hope dies a slow and painful death. Aside from that I've no wish not to get on with anyone.

Even if this was due to this (Which will probably be extended), the expiration date would only put the Mickey IP into the Public domain, it wouldnt legally stop the ride from construction or functioning, correct?
Correct. And aside from copyright laws, Disney will still own the Mickey Mouse trademark etc. forever which will make anyone using Mickey a bit more complicated. But Disney will once again more than likely lobby for Mickey Mouse. He's the most valuable fictional character ever created.
