This is a change from?
People can request to be alone or just the 4 or 5 of them. A covid thing. Or just being alone. That will be no more. The gondola will be at capacity if a line. You will no longer be able to say. I want to ride alone. For whatever reason. They will be more like the busses. Fill em up.

To my understanding that really wasn't ever a thing but I do not ride during peak... so...

You wouldn’t believe how many people for whatever folly reason ask to ride alone. Or with just thier family of say 4. When it would easily hold another family….there is STILL people that won’t get in a cabin on the monorail if someone is in it. Just nuts.

No one is offended that you hate the gondolas. I just don't necessarily agree that they're inherently more "intimate" when I have been afforded far less personal space on buses and monorails at times.

It's not about how much personal space you have -- personal space is a separate issue from the intimacy I'm talking about. It's the way they are designed. The gondolas are designed for a small group of people to sit and chat on the ride. Buses are not designed that way.

That's not the only (or even the main) reason I dislike them, but it is an issue in terms of forcing parties to join up. I understand the goal is to increase efficiency, but since the Skyliner is similar to an omnimover, it won't make a big difference.

I kind of get it.

Getting stuck on a bus or monorail is way different than getting stuck in a tiny box hanging in the sky with strangers. 😄

That's an issue too. It's a minor one because they don't have operational issues very often, but if the Skyliner has a problem while you're on it you might be stuck there for a very long time.

I hate the gondolas anyways and don't have any interest in ever using them again (I'd avoid staying at the resorts that expect people to rely on them for transport), but being forced to ride with other people would make it that much worse. It's different than something like a bus because they're so intimate.
The buses are so packed that I much prefer the gondolas. At least they don't have standing room only on the skyliner. The most you will be near are just a few people versus everyone standing in front of you and packed into either side on the bus.

. From Aug 15 on...unless you have a family of 6 or more...you will share a gondola.
Ummm... source?

I was at Pop the first week of this past December and again in the middle of May, and both times, when there was a significant line, we shared a cabin with other parties.

There were no COVID protocols limiting one cabin per party since December. So, what exactly is the change?

Every time I’ve been on it they usually sit same parties only. Unless it’s peak times like mornings and towards park closing. Honestly most of the day lines are so short side they will keep the 1 party thing.

Apparently...people were still asking to be alone and there is no "official" policy.. There will be. It will be posted..As some are still asking to ride alone due to covid..which as you know..makes ZERO sense as the busses are packed tight as can be. The gondolas if a line....will also be at capacity...if no line...no worries I would assume.

I don't understand this pushback. Are people offended that I don't like them? It's not like I'm saying they should be torn down or everyone else who likes them are wrong. I just personally think they are terrible.

Certainly everyone is entitled to like or dislike what they want. Personally I think the Skyliner is one of the most awesome additions to WDW in decades and a huge enhancement. Maybe it’s the newness but I’d rather ride the Skyliner than any other form of transportation at WDW.

So I think some of the pushback might be from people who like the addition and wound even like to see more - or at least other different transportation options - and when people say they prefer taking the bus there is a concern that Disney will take that feedback and not bother to innovate or do anything new. And regardless if one likes the Skyliner per se I think we could all agree that Disney actually invest more in the resort.
