Great Movie Ride Cowboy Scene?

We were there in January and they did the cowboy scene for us. From what I have been told If you are in the first car, you see the cowboy scene, second car sees gangster scene. We specifically asked to be seated in front car because my husband never saw it before.

From what I've heard, the cowboy scene is seldom used, not surprisingly, due to cost. It is expensive to turn on the ol' fire effect. This saves TDO some coin. Supposedly if you request it, a CM might be able to make it happen.

I don't believe the above to be true I'm afraid. You can ask a cm about seeing the cowboy scene and if it's operating that day they can arrange for you to do so but it might involve waiting for a cycle or two to go through first. It is used less and we always hope to get it but rarely do nowadays. We have a forum member here who is a cm on the ride who gave me this information in the past and is very happy to chat about the ride.

Does The Great Movie Ride still use the Cowboy scene.? I have been on that ride a lot and always get the gangster.

Yes, the Western version still is shown

No, it's true. When 2 vehicles are running, the first 2 cars get the Western show and the last 2 cars get the Gangster show

The Western show is performed year-round. It may not run as often during the slower times, but I can count on 1 hand (in 2.5 years) how many times it wasn't done at all

If you love TGMR then this old thread of mine may interest you?

It appears joanna7 1985 is our forum member who works TGMR.

That's me!

I'm guessing this is the scene where the animatronic cowboys are firing at each other across the road? One of them is the sheriff and he's on about stringing this bloke up or something?

I didn't realise it was either one or the other. I think I've seen the gangster bit way more times.

Hey Joanna, long time no see on here. Mrs M and I are coming for 3 weeks in October, will hopefully see you on one of our many TGMR visits during our stay and get to say hello. We were lucky enough to sit right behind a cm for the first time last year on TGMR and I was amazed at how much she chatted quietly to my wife and I during the ride just having a laugh with us and telling us how 'the mouse pays for her hair to be done' as we went through the fantasia scene with the strong air flow and such :)

I always enjoy reading these threads so I can disprove them...

The Bandit scene in GMR is used daily, but only during certain times of the day depending on projected park attendance. If you go during the summer you are more likely to see it than during the fall. When you go into the ride if you ask for it between 10 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. you can get it.

Unfortunately I'm no longer based at GMR! :( I still pick up shifts every now and then, but I'm currently at MK

Haven't had the cowboy scene in years, but I think they still use it every now and then.

I would say it's a bit more then that

Interesting. My last trip this past March, I saw the cowboy instead of the gangster for the first time in my life.

The last time I got the cowboy scene... it was probably the 90s. I rode it the other day and got in line for the back car. The moment I sat down on the ride I cursed myself for not taking the other line. I probably would've gotten the cowboy.
