Great Movie Ride Cowboy Scene?

The first time we went to the studios was in '92. We had already ridden TGMR and my folks wanted to ride it again. I wasn't being obstinate but I did say "Oh, why are we going to ride it again? We'll just see the same thing." Well, of course, we ended up with the opposite room than we had previously seen. Needless to say I was teased about that the rest of the trip! :)

The last time I got the cowboy scene... it was probably the 90s. I rode it the other day and got in line for the back car. The moment I sat down on the ride I cursed myself for not taking the other line. I probably would've gotten the cowboy.

Not necessarily. Depending on how many vehicles are running, both lines could be used for the gangster show. The best way to guarantee getting the Western show is to ask the CM at the podium

The Bandit scene is usually only run for a few hours in the busiest part of the day. For example, if you ask for it at 9:00pm in the middle of September, it probably won't be running.

I know, but my point was that the cowboy scene seems to be used a lot less frequently than the gangster scene. At least for me anyway.

Maybe if they installed a strobe light in the Cowboy Scene, it would fix the issue?

(a joke @joanna71985, just a joke! <grin> Also, as a side note, where are you at in MK now? I'd love to come say hi with the Kid in August! PM me if you don't wish to post it here.)

Ah, love it!

This thread reminds me how much I love the GMR. I love everything about it, from the glamorous building to the queue to the grand scale of it all. Classic Disney. A bit EPCOT-y in its grand sets, AA's, scale and time it takes to tell a story.
Love it and may it last forever!

(...but do fix it up a bit, eh?)

Also, ops should consider alternating the Western and Gangster scenes a bit more as the first option. People rarely get to see the Western.

Mrs M and I go to Disney for 3 weeks a year in Sept or Oct and spend a fair bit of time in the parks. I can honestly say that in our last 10 or so trips on TGMR (spread out over various times) that we've had the cowboy scene at most twice but probably just the once. There really does seem to be a huge swing in favour of the gangster scene by those who make decisions or we've been extremely unlucky. If it is a management decision to run the gangster scene more often then it would be nice to see them repair the car in the scene that now seems to be just sat there not moving (or was the case last Octber when we visited).

I've been to Disney 13 times and I've been on TGMR atleast twice each trip and I've never seen the cowboy scene! I knew it existed, but I've always ended up in the back car. I made it a point to add it to my "Must Do" list for this November.

I'll let you know, but it probably would have to be closer to the date (because I can move around). Just make sure to remind me so I don't forget

Absolutely. It will be here or over in the other place I see you! (Grin)

Probably here...easier to just tag your name.

As long as you go during the middle of the day, chances are very good to catch the Western show (unfortunately, unless you go during an extremely busy time aka Christmas week, ect, the Western show will not run as much as Gangster)

I'll keep an eye on both

Apart from the fact you have a cowboy/girl driving the vehicle and talking to the Indiano Jones scene , then yes.
You know that is a very good question. It never came to my mind until I read the question, but, I am at a loss to figure out how they work the two scenes. I assumed that the gangster scene and the cowboy scene were either happening at the same time or they alternated shows. One trip was cowboys, the next departure was gangster. If that isn't how it happens how does the Indy scene work where it is your scene that gets the driver to return. Wouldn't it be two different people for each grouping.

@marni1971, I am again calling on you...do you have a video on how that works? You must have I just can't find it.

It's why there are 2 vehicles- while one is going into Western, the other one stops in Gangster. I can tell you, it makes for a fun day when all the vehicles are operating

Out of interest Joanna, how long does it take to get from either the gangster or western set to the Indie set? I assume you're walking through a corridor above the set that takes you through to the indie scene, is it far and do you have to really rush?

It's a bit shorter time if you have the bandit, but you have a few minutes if you have the gangster
