Good Bye & Good Riddance To 20K

What I've noticed about this thread is that those of us here that are more traditional in our views about the park, express actual rides that we miss. (i.e. If You Had Wings,20k Leagues, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride). It doesn't surprise me that those who started this thread, and others, don't express any ideas on something better. I for one, would love to see a wholesale return to the ideas/values of Mr. Disney, and then just expand on those ideas using todays' technology. Now, having said that, I know that's what the Imagineers do even today, but sometimes I think the creative ideas sometimes aren't creative at all. Rather they are just expansions on old themes, or ideas we are familiar with, but with a twist. Nothing wrong with that. But I think the overall picture has become quite blurry.

For example, Soarin'. I understand from pictures/comments the basic theme of the ride, and how it operates. Well, if I am getting good info, then it seems to me to be very much like "If You Had Wings", just with a different ride operation.

Tower of Terror. Great Ride!! The Wife and I love it. But we all know where the "idea" came from.

Rock and Roller Coaster. Another Great Ride that we love. But again, nothing new. So when we talk about the traditional rides that we all knew and loved, it was also because they were fun and original. (Mr. Toad's Wild Ride; If You Had Wings).

I for one just think that some of the creative development has been lost. Tell me what ya'll think.

Good thread...

I never personally did 20k, but I wish I did now. I was way too young at the time. I do remember it there, but like I said never did it.

I would hate to this huge area be wasted on a meet & greet. It has greater potential then that. I would love to see either another dark ride, or a coaster (Bald Mountain)

Anyways...no plans have even been made yet, about the Meet & Greet. Disney is not that stupid...It's just a rumor that someday started.

Of course there has to be a blend of "nostalgic" attractions and "fresh" attractions. Some Disney fans just want to keep all the original attractions, but thats not possible.

Your nostalgia (and sense of quality) is framed in part by your experiences at a younger age.

You may criticize newer attractions as lacking in the attributes that made older attractions special to you. But there are kids today who will complain (as we are) 25 years from now when they replace the "dated and worn" Mission Space. :)

Remember, no attraction is born with soul. It develops it through people's interaction with it. And every attraction (even the ones considered trite) will become special to someone. Even character meet-and-greets (which I agree are not really attractions).

got2lovedisney is right on....putting it very simple...chefjason doesn't cook up a good meal.

earlier he stated that it costed too much money and wasn't worth the wait...well, first, if there's a wait, then people must know it was something good,

Second, you suggested putting in a Finding Nemo water ride...Don't contradict yourself my friend...whether it be Finding Nemo or 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, it would still be a water ride and cost just as much money....

Give it up, you and Eisner have no support!!!!

Ok, sorry for that last post. I too am getting a kick out of this forum. Hats off to who ever started this madness. It's friggen hilarious!

Ok, I went on 20k once in my whole life, so pardon me if my memory is jogged--I mean really jogged.

What I remember from 20k is mechanical fish attached to metal poles (which you could see very clearly) that swam in circles...

You guys really want to bring that back??

I never rid 20K and I don't remember seeing it in the lagoon. But I think the lagoon would look so cool with the Nautilus sailing through it, and I definately don't want to see a friggin meet-and-greet. If they do fill the lagoon I want some quality.

P.S. I was thinking, what if they put the 20K ride from TDS somewhere in Tomorrowland?

ChefJason must spend a lot of time under Eisner's desk!!!LOL:lol:

I think we all know that new things must be brought into the parks to keep guests coming...I am done talking about 20,000 because an overwhelming majority have shared the same opinions that 20k should have remained in the park.

Yes, Eisner did some good things for Disney but his quick buck decisions have resulted in a loss of quality for Disney and the products. The Disney Store has nothing special anymore, and the park stores' products are ridiculous. And if you are ChefJason is a cook in the parks, that alone explains quite a bit. If not, let me know where you work so I can make sure not to visit there next week when I come to Orlando.

And lets get rid of Eisner and his ignorance.

wow, that was really worthy of the time you wasted writing it!
your insight is uncanny!, I know a lot of people who think like you they are mindless drones. Are you by any chance a Bank Teller?

P.S. Eisner's Ignorance Made WDW what it is today!!

P.P.S. Why would you care what the "Overwhelming Majority's" Opinion is? Shouldn't you have your own Opinion!?! Theres a scary thought! Any way have fun in Orlando next week!

Congratulations... you finally said something correct.

Eisner's ignorance did make Disney a financially troubled shell of what it was in the mid 90's.

Frank Well's made it what it was.

R.I.P. Mr. Wells, we sure could use you right now.

Hey Chef, put down your cooking utensils for a second(slacker) and let me tell you something.

Walt Disney World was created by a man by the name of Walt Disney. Let me give you a brief history of this man I am going to tell you about.

First, he created Disneyland (bet you didn't know that). It was his plan that created the Magic Kingdom and much of his plan that Epcot was based on originally.

Disney MGM Studios is an ok park but would have worked out much better had Walt been around to plan it. Animal Kingdom, I am done there by 1100-1200 every time I go. It was opened with hardly any attractions..(hence the quick buck) The park should have had more stuff prior to it opening. There is much negative press in relation to Eisner's Animal Park. [that's probably why they have that so corny NATTAAZUU commercial on the Disney Information Channel in the hotels.]

Eisner doesn't have a lot working for him except you and a few other people that would love to hang Mickey Mouse in a tree.

Get a life buddy and uhhh I said no onions!!!!!

:hammer:

I'm beginning to think that your only reason for posting, is not to incite meaningful debate, but rather to get people upset and start some kind of argument....forgive me if that is not your intent, but thats just what your posts reflect...instigation...
