Going to the Resorts!!

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me whether you can go to the resorts if you are not staying there?

I've always wanted to go and have a look around the resorts for myself, i imagine the pictures don't do them justice. We don't stay at the resorts because it's too expensive for us, but i'd love to see them.

Any help would be appreciated :)

They will, however, ask for identification. And the resorts around MK used to give a two hour parking pass to deter non-guests from taking advantage of the Resort Monorails.

Absolutely! When you pull up to the guard at the gate just tell him you are there to look around and they will give you a temp pass. Eat, Shop, look around! It's a lot of fun!! The only thing they don't let you do is use the pool and work out facilities. Checking out the resorts is one of our favorite things to do each trip! It's how we pick the next place to stay! It's especially lovely at the holidays!! :sohappy:

Checking out the resorts is one of our favorite pasttimes. As it has already been mentioned the guards at the gate seem a little extra suspect if you aren't a guest of that resort, but I've never known them to turn anyone away. Again, just have photo ID ready, and if you have your resort ID already as well that will speed things along even more.

But half of the fun of resort hopping, I think, is taking advantage of some of the more unique transportation options, like riding the monorail around the lagoon visiting each of the MK resorts, or taking a boat from MK to the Wilderness Lodge, or using the boat from EPCOT to see the Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach Clubs, and Boardwalk, and taking the boat from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans.

I think that you should go for it. Many people do it.

One year we took a whole day and visited various resorts, this was during Christmas Season which is a great time of year to do it because the resorts are decorated for the season.

Keep in mind that you can only park at a resort for a couple of hours on the temporary pass. If you want, pay to park at the TTC and travel around property on WDW Transportation.

You can monorail to Poly, GF, and Contemp. Then bus to others, transferring each time at a Park or DTD. This may end up being faster than trying to drive yourself around to all the resorts you want to see, and save you from hassling with every guard.

But yeah, it can make for an entire day of entertainment!

We did a lot of this last trip, it was so fun and we're planning on staying at a resort very soon. We also love to pop around and try the different restaurants.
