Going Alone!

Hi All

Just renewed my Disney Annual Pass for the next year. Found out that no one who would normally go with me can go next year. No!!!!!!!

I've been before alone, however it was not much fun. Anyone else going alone next year?

True!

Afterall, I'm going to america where total strangers say hello to you. It's not like Alton Towers here in the UK where you won't even get a smile!

Before you go, you should post a thread to see if you can meet up with others from the boards for a day here and there to run with you in the parks.

Cool! :)

What to people going solo general do?

I found that going to places like Pleasure Island night clubs were a bit awkward!

I don't know about others, and this will be my first solo trip, but I'm taking some behind the scenes tours, doing a character meal or two, and trying some restaurants I haven't been to before ... the main thing is I get to do what I want to do when I want to do it :D Relax and destress.

Closer to my trip, I might post a thread to meet up with others as shoppingnut suggested.

I'm doing my first solo trip during Mousefest this year. I'm sharing a few meals with friendly strangers and even going on the Illuminations cruise. I leave in just over a month and I can't wait. :ROFLOL::xmas:

I so want to take a solo trip and I may get the chance late this spring. My son and I usually go together for our annual trip, but he may be spending part of that time with his dad. A perfect time to start our WDW vacation a little early!

I love going solo :)

Most of the time I go to DisneyWorld solo and I just love it. I can pick all the places that I want to eat by myself and when I want to eat there. I go swim at my hotel when I want and I can go to the parks when I want to and I can go on whatever rides I want to go on and I can go to the shows that I want and I can pick all the times that I want to do everything ect. ect. ect. > When I go solo, I just need to ask myself what I want to do

I book a lot of character meals and I like to eat at the sit down meals in the different nations in Epcot and there are many other places that I like to eat at. There is a Princess meal in Epcot that I just love called " Princess story book dining " and it's in Norway. I like the attention that I get from the Princesses when they see that I am all by myself :sohappy:

You can get on some rides faster if you are just one person. Mission Space has a singe rider line that goes faster than their fast pass line ( at least it does everytime I am there ) > Sometimes rides like Space Mountain might put you on the ride faster if you are just one person.

Another great thing for me is I am 6 foot 3 and I can kick butt when it comes to getting places fast  It's hard for a lot of people to keep up with me and since I am solo I don't have to worry about that :p This really helps when I want to get to a ride before the park closes and when I am at the Pirate and Princess party or extra Magic hours at one of the theme parks and I want to do as many things as I can.

Also you have your hotel room all to yourself. You can use the shower whenever you want and if you wake up at 3:00 a.m. and you want to eat something and watch a little tv you don't have to worry that someone else will wake up :p

Another thing that I really like to do is the Fantasmic show at Mgm and if you are by yourself it's more easy for you to find a place to sit. If you are solo it might be more easy for some sit down eating places to work you in as a walk in.

Another sit down meal that I really love is San Angel Inn in Mexico in Epcot. I am going to eat there during my birthday week and I am going to take my little Mexican Children of the World doll called " Julissa " with me  I might have a cast member take a photo of me holding Julissa when they sing happy birthday to little me :sohappy: If you want to see a photo of Julissa go to this link

Going to DisneyWorld solo is so much fun :sohappy:

Me too! My son's dad has never, ever taken our son for spring break or a week's vacation at any time. So I said to him, "look, I want to go away this spring break to celebrate my graduation but I noticed that you'll have Jackson for part of that week. I'll leave it up to you, but either way I'm going somewhere." Lo-and-behhold, he decided to take him for the whole week. I was originally thinking of going on a cruise, but my son wouldn't let me. He said that since he's already been to WDW lots, I should go there so he wouldn't be missing anything with me ... He's 6 :D

While I originally felt a little guilty (how could mommy go to Disney for a whole week without him), my son, family and friends have convinced me otherwise. Spending time with his dad will good for him, and some alone time will be good for me (over the last five years I have been mommy, student and teacher).

I know I won't be alone in the World, but I just hope I don't get too lonely as STR8FAN2005 said! :(

I usually go with my wife and/or my brother, but there have been rare instances where I've made the trip myself. While I would choose to go with someone else 10 times out of 10, going by yourself can still be fun. I went on rides my usual travel party doesn't like to go on, spent way too much time playing classic arcades at DisneyQuest, etc..

Just remember, you're never truly "alone" in the World.

I've done the solo thing before, though it's never ended up being for an entire week-long trip.

About 4-5 years ago I went with a friend who could only go for half the week. So we stayed at Riverside, and then after he left I moved to All-Star Music to save money and spent the last 4 days solo.

Back in June of this year, I went down and stayed at a friend's house a few miles away from WDW. While he was able to spend a day or two in the parks with me, I knew that 90% of the time I'd be solo. Then, on my second evening there, I was at the Adventurer's Club and bumped into a friend from back home that I didn't even know was going to WDW. He introduced me to the friends he was with, and I ended up spending the bulk of the rest of my week with them. Funny how that happens.

And on my upcoming trip next month (I'm so happy that I can finally use the phrase "next month"!) again I'll be solo, though I know people that will be down there, so chances are I won't be alone the entire time.

But touring the parks solo is great. You can ride anything you want, eat wherever and whenever you want. Stop and sit down and just people-watch. Just stroll through the park and take tons of photos.

Even when I vacation with a group of friends, we always schedule one day that's a solo day. Being with a group of people 24/7 (especially those you don't spend that amount of time with back home) can definitely cause friction on a long trip. So midway through the trip, we have a solo day where everyone goes off and does whatever they want. Sleep in, lounge by pool, tour the hotels, go see things in the parks that the other don't want to do as a group, etc Then we all meet back up for dinner that evening.

Don't feel guilty! :D Mom needs to recharge so she can be all those things - mommy, student and teacher. Good luck!

Looks like I will get some solo time after a conversation today with the ex. He's planning to spend some time at WDW while we're there, so that can be father-son time and free time for mom. :D:sohappy::D
