I read in a recent Newsweek article that the gmail server "reads" the e-mail and sends you spam relating to keywords mentioned in the e-mail you send and receive. (example: you mention you ordered your wife a nighty from Victoria Secret and you get spam for such related topics.) I already get enough spam that I am able to filter through Yahoo! I don't need any more! I guess Google did this to keep the e-mail on the Free side, but I would avoid it because of this. Maybe someone with an account can let us know if this is true or not.

No this is not true, thankfully :) The gmail server scans the email and displays relevant text adds to the side of the message, (see here http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/screen2.html ). That's all :wave:

I know this thread is kind of old but rather than create a new one I just brought it back up.
