Giving Thanks for Magic Friends

Stuffing should never go in the bird unless it's piping hot first. Otherwise it harbors bacteria. :hurl:

My mom tried to do the turkey breast thing many years ago because it used to be only the 3 of us... I rebelled. what's thanksgiving without a turkey leg to gnaw on??? So one year we just had roasted turkey legs :slurp:
my mom always does the dressing in the bird. I love it that way.

For years, I was guilty of another no-no...slow-cooking my turkey overnight.
Supposedly the low heating temps aren't high enough to kill bacteria.
Whatever.
George's mom taught me that method many years ago and it guaranteed a perfect turkey.
The meat literally fell off the bone and was moist and juicy. It never failed.
Now that I'm just doing the breast I don't need that much cooking time, so of course I don't do it overnight.

My mom does it in the roaster oven. Starts it about 4 or 5 am till just about the time we eat about noonish.

I don't think I've ever been sick, but I don't want to take a chance. Besides, we always eat more stuffing than can actually fit in a bird anyways
us too mom does both ways.:slurp: can't wait till thursday now.:sohappy: Even if we don't know what city we will be in.

I brine my turkeys. OMG. So good. Moist like I've never had before. It's almost food proof. The brine makes it impossible to dry out.

A few fun things...

My brother wanted to do something for my homecoming, so he had this website up and ready on the computer for me. How funny is that?

And my friends plotted with my sister. They weren't going to come over till today, but they surprised me and showed up last night. God I missed them. So they slept over and we saw Twilight today. :) I still really enjoyed it.

I've been reading mixed reviews, but I personally enjoyed it. They stayed very faithful to the book, except for a few scenes. The casting was perfect, in my opinion. You can tell it was a low budget film, but it was still good. Cheesy in parts, but good.

Aaaand...New Moon just got anounced! :D

I'm not expecting greatness.
The books aren't what I'd call great.
But they are compelling and I'm hoping the movie captures that.
If so, I'll be a happy camper. :)

Yayness!
That's going to be a sad one. :(

You might need that popcorn bucket for a few scenes. :D:lookaroun

Bah. I'm not really looking forward to it.
But, it needs to happen, I guess.

Are those books kind of like in weird dark magic and vampire stuff or is it more love story or what? I was thinking about the books for the girls for Christmas

Mostly a romance.
I'm not sure about the right age bracket for them, though.
Your girls are a little young, maybe?
