Giving away your fast passes

When my girlfriend and I went last year we had grabbed two FPs for fast track early in the day. We spent a good amount of time just exploring World Pavilion and doing things there and really were enjoying it. Later in the day we decided we wanted to finish our exploration of World Pavilion rather than going on any rides. At dinner in Japan, we saw a couple around our age not far away and offered the passes to them randomly.

Unfortunately, the couple hardly seemed grateful and didn't bother to thank us or say goodbye when we left. We regretted giving them away and should have given them to a family.

Giving them away can sometimes be more of a challenge than anything esle. One couple we asked a few weeks ago sneered at us and said "NO!" quite loudly. I had 2 FP's for Soarin' and just couldn't get anyone to take them. You'd think people would dive for a chance since the line is usually at least an hour or more.
This has happened to my son (age 11) several times. I think people think it's some kind of practical joke or something so they say no. However, each time it's happened, another group will take them. My child (sorry for the brag), is one of those kids who really gets a kick out of helping people, so it kinda breaks his heart when people turn him down. He takes it so personally! But, anyhow, we end up giving fp's away pretty much every trip b/c my daughter doesn't like a lot of the "big" rides, so we always wind up with a few extras.

Another thing I want to do, which is so simple buwill have an impact...is buy a few of those MICKEY shaped balloons and give them so some kids sitting along the parade route while waiting for it to begin! But whatever you do, always ask permission from the parents first before handing something to a child!

This is a really sweet idea, and I don't want to be a debbie downer, but I have to tell you, I would be a little creeped out if a stranger wanted to give my child a free balloon at WDW. I would probably say no thank you, and then keep my eyes on that person for the rest of the night. I know that's terrible, because it's an idea you had out of kindness.

I just thought I should let you know in case someone says no... it's not you, it's just the nature of our society these days, I think. Also, I'm a little hyper-sensitive to the rejection thing (see my post above ^^^), because my son has a giving heart like you.

Last trip I was given fastpasses for the Tower of Terror and thanked the Gentleman for his generosity and rode :)

I once gave away an extra fastpass when someone in our party chickened out on Rock n' Roller Coaster.

Last summer my father, brother, and myself were on vacation walking up Sunset Blvd from ToT and a guy comes up to us asks, "I have 3 fastpasses for Toy Story Mania (and shows them to us), would you like them?" We said yeah of course and as my dad was about to put his hand on them the guy said "Five dollars each.":eek: WHAT!?!?! We said FPs are non transferable and you can't sell them. He said alright I'll find someone else. My dad and I are both CM's and we almost went to Guest Relations but decided not to. What nerve some people have!

Wow thats ashame. Who would buy fastpasses? But that would be the only way I would give them away is if I sold them. But I would have looked at the guy like he was crazy.

My hubby likes to do this. He is a big people person and will always talk to everyone and carry on conversations. I'm not that social.
Everytime we go on a ride, even if we just walk on, we will get fastpasses and my hubby will give them to people who he sees in long lines and give them to them if they say they will use them. We don't want them to go to waste.:)

I always give away my fast passes if we're not going to use them.
And I too have to pick the right people.

Usually I look for people who walk up and give each other the "I don't think we'll have enough time to ride" face and look sad... they always get mine haha.

I hope he didn't find anyone. As if someone's touting FPs in WDW. Surely that's cause enough to get kicked off property.

same here, given out, gotten back, am very thankful when we get them, love to give them to kids and see their eyes light up. also when we have some left on out DDP, we give them to people too. One year we were leaving the MK on our last day, and we had 12 table service and snacks, my wife gave me our cards and said find someone, so as we were walking towards the central hub, I saw a family of mom and dad woith 4 young girls, I walked up to the mother and asked, "are you on the DDP?" when she said no I gave her the cards and told her what was on it and enjoy. She lit up big time said thankyou, I smiled and walked away, I could hear her say to hubby we just got food for everyone, made me feel really good too :D

I dont know if anyone goes through this but I wanted to share. Sometimes me and the wife get extra fast passes that we dont use so instead if throwing them away we like to give them away.

Here is where it begins. We start looking for a couple, but it cant just be any couple. I dont know why but we really start disecting the situation and by the time we find someone, we couldve ridden the ride:ROFLOL:

Anyone else do this:lol:

We've done this several times. One time at Soarin' the couple took them and walked away without a thank you. Sometimes I wonder why I bother.

Yesterday the DW and DD and I were at the mall. DW starts frantically waving at me from the mall (I was in a game store), so I go out. She said a creepy guy came up to her, and started rubbing DDs hand and saying how cute she was. DW kept backing up until he left. So, we ran to the bathroom and scrubbed her hand. The guy may have meant well, but people need boundaries, who touches someone's kid!?! She is really cute though.

That's really sweet! I hope there weren't charging priledges on your cards though. lol

We did this last time we went. We were at Teppin Edo, and there was 7 of us, so a single lady was put at our table. And I remembered we had one lonely stragler of a table service on our cards we wouldn't use, so I got my mom to pay for the lady's dinner with it. she in turn bought my sake... hahaha.

Your father should have said, "All I have is a twenty." Then proceeded to punch him in the face 4 times Chuck Norris style. After taking the fastpasses from his unconscious body told him to, "Keep the change."

Oh my goodness! I cannot IMAGINE someone trying to SELL FASTPASSES!!! What the heck is this crazy world coming to these days??? I would have not been very nice had someone done that to me. I am as easy going as anyone can be, but some things just push my buttons and that would be one of them!

We have given away FP's several times....
love to look for young families because we know how hard it is for wee ones to stand in line! Love the smiles we see when they are heading for the ride with FP in hand:sohappy:

Many times my wife and I have received FP’s from folks who were leaving the park. Just minding our own business walking up main street and a guy or lady grabs us by the arm and says, “Hey do you want these – we are leaving and can’t use them.” We are always thankful for the gesture and have taken them willingly. We even got 1 for EE. In fact that was how I got my wife over her fear to ride it. Hey since we got them as a gift and didn’t have to wait to ride in the stand-by line…what perfect timing. It worked! We’ve also received many for SM. NICE!

We’ll have to remember to try and give some back.

Sometimes I save one for scrapbooking purposes...my wife has me in the mode of keeping small scraps of vacation things for that stuff.

But I try to give away extra passes, and I always find a family when I can.
