Our family of 5 was able to volunteer to make two fleece blankets each, for a total of 10 blankets, for project Linus. We purchased the supplies yesterday and my husband and I spent the day and evening cutting them (still not done!) the children are tying the knots (they are not done either!) but so far it's been a lot of fun for us. We will be buying more supplies and making some for ourselves because we've enjoyed it so much :D I'm sorry there's some folks without better opportunities out there. It was last night before we actually got registered but the lady running the program called me within a few minutes of expressing interest yesterday morning. This has worked great for us, we will now have 5 days at Disney instead of 4 for our March trip :sohappy:.

Well, I tried to sign up for the blanket making (pretty much the only option here in NL, Canada) and I can't submit the application b/c apparently NL is not a valid province! Argggggg! :brick: I fired off an email to the website help... who knows if I'll hear back...

A lot of opportunities around my area. I guess I will need to talk my mom into signing up by saying, "we can help and volunteer our time and then as a reward go to Disney!"

Just a quick question.. My girls scout troop has been saving money for Disney and we have like $2,000+ set aside. Do you think that if we were do this it would be a good idea?

Stupid question, but I'm having a brain fart. You can still get in free on your birthday right? Just no gift-card option?

Is this really true? Where was that stated? It would definitely be a big help for me when I renew next year...

Yes, it is true.

From the FAQ on disney's website:

May I upgrade my free one day ticket to an Annual Pass or multi-day ticket?
Yes, the value of the free ticket may be used toward the renewal of your Annual Pass or Passport as long as you completed your service and received and present your voucher within your applicable renewal period . You are responsible for any additional costs owed and no credits or refunds will be given.

when i searched the oppurtunities in my area there were plenty available... but the first one seemed a little too easy. they ask you to donate blood at florida blood services. seems pretty easy compared to the rest i read about.

Well I did the search and found an opportunity to work with young foals at a local equine rescue. :D I hope to hear back from them.

I haven't tried reaching out to them yet, but I found some better opportunities by following the

Click here or information for HandsOn Network partner organizations you can contact that will have additional qualifying opportunities

link at the bottom of the search results.

I found a group that is local that I know of.

I am having problems finding stuff for my 8 and 11 year old as well. I am surprised. I have had both of them out with me and my Rotary club collecting food for the Center for Food Action (No Disney ticket bribe needed) and let me tell you, my two kids can lay a guilt trip on you like nobody's business.

I looked at opportunities in my area when they first listed them Jan. 1, but it didn't sign up for anything. I looked again today and almost everything is already taken. DARN!:brick:
Was really hoping to get my voucher before I head down the beginning of March.

I was having a problem finding anything in my area to do, so I searched a different area code (03041) and found an at home project that even kids can do (“Make a Colorful Collection Box - At Your Home!” ). It's a fundraiser and sounds like a fun project for the family to do together.

I've been having major issues with the signup. I'm able to find plenty of activities in my area that I want to participate in, but the site is being very user-unfriendly. I was able to fill out the first form, but when I clicked the button to go to the HandsOn.org portion of the signup process, I was never re-directed, and the connection timed out. When I tried to go back and sign up again, it wouldn't let me, because my e-mail had already been used to start the process.

I signed up today and did not have any trouble. Nothing much where I am so we went with an at home option. We may use it in May if we decide to do Star Wars weekend if not then in August and use the fastpasses.

Hey guys.

I could not find it anywhere on here. I need to know, are you able to upgrade your give a day base ticket to the park hopper option? This is pretty crucial information for our next trip.

Thanks. :D
