Gift Cards for no room service

Did you even read what I wrote and you quoted? I said "on the fourth day," which is exactly when they change the sheets.

Come on, new guy, get with the program.
I wasn't aware of this. Do they really change sheets every 4th day? I thought you meant that you preferred it every 4 days. I thought it was done less often than that.

Given the markup on everything on site, a $20 gift card might actually cost Disney $10-$12 if not less. I can get bottles of water at Sam's for 50 cents that WDW sells all day for $3.

This. If they were refunding $20 directly to you that's money out of their pocket. Offering you $20 to spend on their service and merchandise is a good deal for them. Say for instance you claim some type of damage to your personal effects and the management offers you one day tickets for your family of four. One the surface, this looks like they are giving you a $400+ settlement when in effect those tickets, now on your Magic Band, costs them $0. You will now enter the park and spend well more than $0 on food and merchandise. Disney will rarely, if ever, intentionally offer something that will lose them money.

As long as you can call (as mentioned previously) for the necessities. I would be all for it! I think it is a great idea/option for those who wish to do so.

I clean my own room just as I would clean my house at home. I am meticulous about it,even bringing larger trash bags in case we have bigger items, and fill the ones provided. The only thing they ever have to do is leave towels and, I do love the soap. The only thing that worries me is- does this eliminate jobs? I love Mousekeeping and always tip even though they do not have to do that much. If, in the long run, people lose jobs, I don't know if I would do it. :-/

Sheets are changed every 4 days and between guests. Towels are generally replaced every day since guests usually do not hang used towels back up so housekeeping removes and replenishes them.

i would definitely do it. Every morning I am rushing to get 8 children plus myself up, showered, dressed, sunscreened, hair fixed etc so we can make rope drops. Then I run around the room before heading to the bus stop, picking up all the pajamas that got dropped on the floor, arranging the vanity area nicely etc so that its easier for housekeeping to come in and do their work and not an unnecessary burden on them. It would be great some days just to be able to walk out and worry about all the picking up after we got back from the parks. Now we go for nearly 2 weeks so I wouldn't want it to be an all or nothing situation but going a few days in between housekeeping would be fine with me.

I'm intrigued to see how this all plays out and if it will extend to other resorts!

Random question I've always wanted to know - how often do they clean the bath tubs? Like - really clean them - not just give a wipe - but use cleaner to kill the germs we leave behind.

Multiple reports are coming out that people are being offered a $20 gift card a day for not having their rooms cleaned. I guess this is a test at Value resorts only. Would you take it? If I am staying in a Deluxe on an extended vacation and paying Deluxe prices then no I don't think so. If I am over for a few nights in a Moderate then sure I will take $40. Curious if this has legs.

No, I would not do it. We stay at moderates, and we spend a lot of money to stay there. I feel that making the bed, getting clean towels, etc, and emptying the trash is not too much to ask for any amount that you spend for a room, deluxe or not! When I'm on vacation, I want to be pampered a little bit, so No, I wouldn't do it.

I would totally do this. When I travel solo, I usually stay around 2 weeks. I do not make much of a mess and bring my own bed sheets that I wash with my laundry anyway. As long as I can pick up some clean towels and dump my trash somewhere, I would gladly use that money on something else.

I totally get it. It is definitely different when you are on a vacation that you have planned for months and even years.

We're DVC and do not get daily housekeeping and I love it. When I travel I tell them not to come into my room as well. I do not change towels daily so I don't need it at a hotel (feels very wasteful to me) So yeah, I'd take it.

I never use daily housekeeping except to exchange used towels and to put out trash. I make our beds before heading out.
