Getting really worried, but...

I recently found out that there might be a hurricane coming in the day I leave for WDW, and right now, I'm really worried it'll be a very good chance it could cancel our flight there. And it's a very rare thing for me to go for 10 DAYS. I'm just really worried and I can't get it off my mind.

The models are pretty scattered at the moment. What's showing is roughly the mean of those models. In about two days we'll have a better idea where it's going. At this point it's being shown as becoming a category 1. Keep an eye but don't worry just yet.

We were in late August last year, a Cat 4 was going to hit Florida but at last minute it went up the coast and hit our home instead....only as a tropical storm though. We still haven't had an official hurricane up here since 1992. Unfortunately we had to stay a couple more days at disney.

As of right now the NHC tracks it on the Florida coast around 8am Monday. Still could turn but I would watch this close. Doesnt look to be a major hurricane but lots of rain seems like a good possibility right now.

I've gone this time of year 7 times (this year will be the 8th) and the hurricane potential looks lower now than in most of those years. 2004, now that was an interesting year.
We were there right after Charley, OMG I still remember what the airport looked and smelled like from all the water

I imagine that the concern is over Tropical Depression no 9. This is it's current forcast cone. While I am not a meterologist, living in South Florida we all have become amateur meterologists. Hurricane threats are a part of life down here. First off I want to say don't stress it because these forecasts have the shelf life of milk in the sun. This will change. This forecast cone will change a dozen times before it becomes a threat, if it even becomes a threat. As someone else said, flights don't get affected unless it hits during your flight window. The airports will be open right up until weather conditions begin to deteriorate. Right now it is not expected to become a major hurricane (111mph winds). Also it would have to cross eastern or central Cuba which is a mountainous area. This will weaken it if it does become a threat. Also any shift to the north or east will bring it over Hispañola which is even more mountainous than Cuba and will cause even more weakening. Unfortunately we are entering the peak of the Hurricane Season. For right now monitor it. Contact your airline and the your hotel and find out what how they handle this so you know what to do.

Also I found that local new station WESH has a hurricane watch app.

We arrived right after Frances went through on the morning of Sept. 6 2004. We had to circle for an hour waiting for MCO to re-open around noon. We arrived at MK at 6, and it was more deserted than I've seen before or since. We never needed FastPasses the whole week.

Starting the next year they've had free dining promos during the peak of every hurricane season.

I've been watching this and paying close attention. Although it might be a bit "soggy" you will still have a great trip!!! Sending you pixie dust that it follows the one path out to sea! :) It looks like it will probably hit southern FL, like the Miami area. It looks like a catagory 1. Just hope for the best and pack the ponchos! Oh - and the sham wows! :) They soak up water really well! :)
