Getting really worried, but...

I recently found out that there might be a hurricane coming in the day I leave for WDW, and right now, I'm really worried it'll be a very good chance it could cancel our flight there. And it's a very rare thing for me to go for 10 DAYS. I'm just really worried and I can't get it off my mind.

I have the same fear before my Sept trip every year.
I have been very lucky so far. When I am in Orlando, the storm seems to be just rain and thunder, but not enough to seriously affect my trip.
Do you live somewhere that may be affected? Do you think you won't be able to leave home because of the storm? Do you have trip insurance?

I'm mostly worried the flight will get canceled cause of the storm. I live all the way in the northeast - Philly to be exact, and each August trip I've had, I missed the hurricane.

I am leaving from the Atlantic City airport on 8/26 and it is showing pure sun for that day and days surrounding it on Weather Channel.com, but it looks like flying into FL will be a 40% chance of rain.
I am leaving really early so I am hoping to at least miss that 40% of rain! ;)

Flights don't cancel unless the weather is actually hitting in the landing window or your plane was impacted by another cancelation or delay. Canceling flights has such a cascading problem in the flight network so it's not done lightly.

Hope your luck holds out and it probably will. It's way too early to worry. The storm is still forming and a good track isn't known yet. For storms on the current predicted track, the track typically shifts a lot over a couple of weeks and usually eastward. That's according to 100 year storm tracks. So relax and watch Noaa's Hurricane Centre and don't begin to worry until you're a couple of days out. Now's the time to get excited about your trip. Have a great one.

Ok pat year we went down this time of year, mid Aug. There was a stron hurricane just off of Fla that week. We were sure that we would have bad weather and possible flight problems. As I turns out the storm moved away from Fla and traveled further up the coast and hit the northeast coast wreaking havoc back home. Don't worry too much it's all hit and miss.

Thanks, I'm hoping it won't happen, but who knows?

We had to deal with this in June. Tropical storm Debby came through. Luckily, she didn't turn into a hurricane.
We had a friend meeting us who flew in from Connecticut. It was pouring and had been for two days, but her plane landed anyway. We put on our rainsuits and were able to ride almost every ride with no wait. Lots of people come when it's raining, but with the wind blowing as hard as it was, a lot of people didn't try the parks.
I am so glad we did. Once the sun came out, the crowds were pretty bad, but not so much that we couldn't enjoy our last few days. Unless it's lightning or it's an actual hurricane, most everything stays open.

Hang in there and sending some pixie dust your way! Can I ask, what storm are you referring to? I just looked at the hurricane tracker on weather.com and they show TS Gordon but its heading out to sea.

There are a few disturbances they are watching right now.
Invest 94-L which is not a named storm yet but they feel it could develop. Its not very organized but NOAA believes it will develop into a storm. Where it will go is really still up in the air. However they expect it to continue on a westerly path through the week.

The other one right off the coast of Africa is still being watched but has a low percent chance of developing at the preset moment.

Although the image below is from The Weather Channel the best place to get updated info is from the National Hurricane Centers web site. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Still way to early to worry.
