Getting in room on early arrival...

What do you think the odds are of my room being ready at 10 - 10:30AM on my arrival day? I hate to have to walk around for a few hours because we will have been up since 3AM and to have to wait until 2PM or so to get into room would just kill our whole day cause we will be utterly exhausted.

Just spitballing, but I'd hazard a guess that your odds are better for an early check in at some of the larger and/or less-popular resorts. OKW, SSR, and Coronado Springs guests probably have a better shot of an early check-in than others.

And for those of you who think I'm slagging off on those three resorts, I'm not. I think they're lovely, I'd stay in any of 'em in a heartbeat, but, based on what I've read here and discussed with others, they don't seem to ignite the same level of passion from the same numbers of people all the other resorts do. Personally, now that I'm in DVC, I'm trying to work my way through all the other resorts (VWL & BWV are next), but I look forward to staying @ SSR again, especially once construction is completed.

I think that it would depend on the time of year and which resort. In all the trips we have gone to WDW since 1990 I don't think that we've gotten into our room when we've checked in between 11 and Noon more than 2 or 3 times.

I think the odds are that you won't be able to but you might. If it's a busy time and check out is 11 AM, I'd say you would have no chance. If it's a slow time, you might have a better chance.

Actually for the DVC resorts I'd say you have no chance...because the units are generally larger, it takes them longer to clean them on check outs.

ha ha! How funny! I'll see ya there! ;) We're at 7:30!

Are you going to try to make it to a park in between?

My reservation is at 640pm!

I will only be at WDW for a couple days so I am definitely going to a park in between!

I'm hoping the forecast is wrong and it doesnt rain while I run around this weekend. :)

Hope you have a great time too!

But because the resorts I specified are larger (and not as beloved as many of the others), there's more of a chance that there were unoccupied rooms from the night before, already clean, that can be given to a guest right away. That's what I was talking about. Of course, there's never a guarantee a room was unoccupied, especially when it comes to peak seasons. But if you showed me asked me "Which resort is most likely not at capacity at any given time, Saratoga Springs or Beach Club Villas?" I'd probably guess OKW. And I'd probably be right. Which is not to say SSR isn't nice, because it is, but BCV has fewer units and is in a more desirable area (between Epcot and MGM with walkways and ferry service, whereas SSR only attractive transporation option is the water service to DTD).

I've been to WDW since grade school and my family and I have always had to wait..The only time we got in early was on our honeymoon and I was shocked because it was busy and we stayed at the Contempory..This Oct we're bringing our children..I do have to say us hard core Disney fans don't sleep all the time and it's suppose to be vacation but we keep on pushing..:snore:
Have fun!!!

Ummmm.... No? :ROFLOL:

Im just bringing Oust so I can hang out in the bathroom and smell its wonderful scent :)

Well, "Good luck" with that, just bear in mind

a: Most deodorizers don't really eliminate smells, and there's a good chance the spray will only make the room smell like tobacoo-y lilacs.

b: Any Mousekeeper with half a brain in his or her head will be suspicious of any smell of room deodorizer they don't use in the rooms themselves. Knowing how strict WDW's employee policies can be, I really wouldn't be surprised if they're instructed to keep an eye out for any guests who may be smoking in the room, considering they'd have to take the room out of circulation to get the stench out. You'd get no sympathy from me if you couldn't waddle over to a non-smoking area to be considerate to the next person who'll book that room, not to mention your own family, and got fined as a result. In fact, instead of lurking in the bathroom like a 13 year old "discovering himself" for the first time and then spraying some synthetic gunk in the air for the next person to have to breathe when they have to use the bathroom (especially since it's your family), I'd think any man with a sense of civility and honor would just trudge to the smoking area, maybe make a friend, commisserate over a smoke...

But hey what do I knowm I don't smoke.

If I am in my room for a few hours resting and relaxing I can go through 3 ciggs in an hour so if anyone thinks Im gonna be trotting down the hall and outside 2 or 3 times an hour is smoking the crack pipe. :D

But seriously, Im looking into other methods to not smell up the bathroom... maybe even a small portable airfilter. Im sure with the tech out there, there must be something small enough to fit into a suitcase and not take up much room and do a good job.

Well I hope you enjoy the cleanup fee you'll pay afterwards then.

As a smoker, you just have no idea how easy it is for a nonsmoker to smell it, no matter how you try to hide the scent.

Plus, how fun is it to sit in the bathroom to smoke a cigarette? I'd rather be outside the room enjoying the scenery if I were a smoker.

Call me persnikety.. but we know the day you're arriving, the time of arrival, and the fact that you're in a woods view at WL probably with a request for a MK-view. I'd even garner a guess that you'll be using Magical Express.

If you think you'll not get slammed with a cleanup fee you're nuts.

In the six times I have been to WDW, only once has my room ever been ready as soon as we arrived, and that was at ASMo. In fact, on our honeymoon we stayed on the conceirge(sp)floor at the YC, and we arrived at 11:30 am. We checked in and were told our room would not be ready until after 3pm, so we went to Epcot to waste time. It was Oct 04, and there was no free dining at the time, in fact it wasn't busy at all, there was barely any long lines for anything. Back to my point, we waited for 5 hours to finally get into our room, guess what?!?! There was some guys stuff in our room! :( Come to find out, he checked in around midnight and they said that the computers must have gone down and he ended up in our room. And lets just say it was a sweet room, it was a water view where you could see BW over the water, with a king size bed. Now WHY did we have to wait for a room to be cleaned that was already occupied:veryconfu . It never made any sense. We were too tired to complain we just wanted a room. We went back to the conceirge desk and were placed in another room all the way down some hallway, w/ no water view, but life goes on. We had a great time:) , and never really spent anytime in the room anyway.

We usually arrive around noon, sometimes before. So far we have been able to check in all but twice upon arrival. The two times that we were not able to go to our room, we checked in, left our bags at the desk and then headed to a park. Only once were we unable to get to our room before 3 p.m. and that was last September at POFQ. I'd say the chances are pretty good that you can check in and get your room early.

Our room has always been ready for us to go right into. Just lucky I guess. We are usually on the go from 4 AM until whichever park we are at that day closes. There's no time for sleeping! We just take our carry ons up to the room and off we go.

WOW, no wonder I can't stand most smokers. You spew your caustic clouds of cancer causing carcinogens for the rest of us to enjoy and you won’t even consider not smoking in your room?!?!?! This sounds like a job for Pal Mickey. Since I can’t really find a good use for him after the first usage thrill wears off I think I’ll turn him into the “Ultimate Caustic Cloud Fighter” or UCCF for short. See here’s how it works, I smell your odor and I run as quickly as I can and wake Pal Mickey. He greets me with the normal, Hi ya Pal. You ready to have some fun? To which I reply, no time for niceties PM, That’s what I call him, PM. We’re like BFF. So after that is done we run back to pick up your scent and once we track you down PM give me the ok to beat you senseless with him. The best part and I mean the very best part is he is completely 100% reusable. You start to get up and I get to whack you some more and PM never ever complains. This is great I can’t wait… :brick:

*snickers* He'd probably giggle and laugh as he was being used for beating.

Early room

My wife and I have been going to Disney for many years now and staying on property and it is our experience that getting a room early is not really possible. We generally arrive via or flight at around 1:00 p.m. and have always had to wait until at least 4 p.m. to get a room.

It's not a problem though. Just drop your bags or whatever you're arriving with at the baggage claim desk and they will take care of things for you. We always drop our bags off with them or, you could always check all of your luggage since the Magical Express will take care of your bags anyway, and not have anything to worry about.

Just go check in, get your room key/park tickets/credit card and head to the parks!
